>>712833623>But what would be the point of the remake? These days?
To refresh the IP ownership for the publisher, and to make money. To replace the original, dedicated fanbase, with an easier to please "wider audience", that more easily splurge on an annual-release shovelware franchises.
These days, the matter of remaking old classics is literally the same as some kid copying his older brother's home work.
...but I know that's not the angle you're aiming for, now is it ?
You are ready to defend modern day cash-grab AAA trash, no matter the book full of common criticism.
You also were not even alive when the 2002 Resident Evil REmake came out, and started the whole boom. That is literally what EVERY fan of EVERY single retro game has asked for since then:
A faithful recreation of their favorite game, in the exact same gameplay style, made by the ORIGINAL DEVS, for the original target audience, providing the same story and overall experience, with tasteful, smart additions, changes and expansions to keep the veteran fans entertainment, occupied, and on the edge.
A game that does not REPLACE the OG, but instead is the "next step" in the line of games.
tl;dr:
Stop WANTING to play and support modern, shitty remakes.
Start DEMANDING devs to learn how to make NEW GAMES.
Double so since neither SH fans nor the OG devs ever wanted these remakes to happen.
