A creative work is either challenging or it isn't and that depends more on the consumer's tastes and experience than many artists probably want to admit. Unfortunately for such a person, actually being authentic is nearly impossible in the modern day because the internet makes everyone incredibly more self-conscious of the public perception on any subject.
Take Kojima for instance. I assume this thread was made in response to the news that Kojima made changes to DS2 because testers liked it too much. Could be a mistranslation on what he meant but taken at face value, it portrays 2020s Kojima as a contrarian faggot who's disappointed that his authentic creation isn't divisive enough. In that scenario, the artist is allowing public perception to steer the art. I mean if that's what he meant then it means Kojima is astoundingly ignorant on what art even means.
