Who is V really? is he his own person after the heist? Was he EVER his own person when he was only just chasing a fame high his whole life? It’s one of the central themes of the game, it can be answered in almost any way and whatever the answer is, it wouldn’t be wrong.

The whole point is you’re supposed to be not sure though. V is a blank slate because he can’t be determined as anything beyond just a conduit for silverhand. there’s even fan theories that V died after the heist and everything we see after the prologue is the last shreds of his brain activity before he’s snuffed for good. What little personality V has only exists because he has a voice actor, what V really is, is a tool. He’s a vessel for Silverhand, he’s a gun for fixers, he’s the prybar for Arasaka, he’s the bodyguard for the president, he’s the sucker for NetWatch. Everyone uses him to their own end but V is still indomitable.

That's just not true, V is a shit character so it's a bit hard to define, but he's far from a blank slate, which would be infinitely better.

They really didn't want a cause and effect story where you make your own choices. Failed heist no matter what, can't side with corpos properly (V mouths off to Takemura no matter what) or anything close. Another low agency bioware style "RPG"
