I played AC7 as my first ever AC game and I couldn't get into it. It was frustrating to play and I just felt annoyed when I was done.
Just start with AC1 and don't be a faggot.

I played this game 5+ times and I still don't get the point of this character. She supported and advocated for war, in name of the radicals that were being controlled by Belka. But then switched sides because...they started losing.

Was I supposed to feel bad for her? Because she did things off-screen on the last couple of missions?

You have to remember the game suffered from a massive number of rewrites even up to going gold, hence why all the trailers made you think the penal unit would actually be the focal group and instead they get dropped before the halfway mark.
