>>712854835After playing Ronin, I went back to Nioh 2 and THOSE attacks were all perfectly telegraphed with enough time to react. Every single one could be dodged/countered with ease once you've gotten a feel for the combat. Nioh 2 has by far the best animations in regards to readability of any game ever.
Ronin is the opposite.
Almost none of Ronin's attack animations are well telegraphed, most enemies are using the same array of styles and their attack animations that the player himself uses, moves with snappy response in mind, not moves made with readability in mind. Many do not provide enough time to react (also doesn't help that any enemy can nope out of hitstun whenever they want); it's almost entirely up to knowledge checks, being hit by the attacks a couple times to get a read on the awkwardly timed chains, and all those "slow" startup animations where they get into a stance and then instantly zoom across the screen in three frames. They're "player" animations and they're ass to fight against.
Sure enough, Nioh 3's alpha had easy to read telegraphs from all the new enemies. They're proper enemy animations.
