Its a beast if you homebrew it. Can run Gamecube and Wii natively. Has Virtual console support for older stuff. Most notably DS games. I played through Chrono Trigger DS not long ago on it and it was great. Not to mention having access to the much desired Zelda remasters

It has the right hardware to natively run Gamecube games also (via emulation ofc), all at 1080p I might add. I played F-Zero on a friend's modded console and it looked amazing.

I'm still mad they took the gamepad functionality out of Breath of the Wild. It works so well in the remasters.

Is there some weird Nintendo reason that Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD never came to Switch? They ported virtually everything else over except these two. Zelda is their second biggest IP and they could resell these two for $60 each.

Wind Waker is on GameCube NSO and that required the Gameboy Advance for some unlockables and that obviously isn't there. They've put more effort into adding new content to switch versions of Wii U games like Mario 3D World, they could think of a way to keep the value.

I bought it for couch multiplayer games, lots of 4 player games and you can easily use a variety of controllers including gamecube and wii, wii pro, wii u pro, even 3ds for smash. It was worth it at the time. Now, there is really no reason to buy one. The few exclusive games are better to emulate on pc.

I tried using my wii u and my sister's switch with a monitor that has hdmi and displayport, supports audio on both. On neither Nintendo console did the audio work. I don't know why, as they worked fine on my TV. Thankfully both of those consoles have analog audio so I was able to get sound, albeit a little inconveniently. Just something to watch out for.

Nope. Nearly everything worthwhile has been ported off of it with extra content or quality of life changes. At least the Vita has a bunch of unique games still left on its platform, particularly if you speak Japanese, but the Wii U basically just has Nintendoland, Devil's Third, Star Fox, the original ZombiU and Lego Undercover games, the intended way to play W101, WWHD, TPHD, the one Kirby game, and that's about it?
