The only thing is what is Caith Sith and how did Reeve gain control of it? Several elements of FF7 like Sephiroth's origins, motives, Hojo, etc are messy as hell because the game was written and re-written several times. Reeve's powers are another one and it's never EXPLAINED in-game at all.

Supposedly Reeves is just magic and he can breathe life into inanimate objects. That's just a thing he does.

Reeve using magic to turn a toy cat alive, who then sits on top of a toy moogle and gives commands with a megaphone is so weird. Why not just simplify it? Caith Sith is a Shinra robot-spy and that's it. Cut out the Reeve angle entirely.

Again, another weird writing element that's likely from a re-write. They wrote this great scene, then thought maybe his death would take away from Aerith's more tragic death, so then they send another unit.

The cat is a toy brought to life by a corpo suit using an ability called Inspire.
They somehow share one mind despite both being autonomous.
It's weird, contrived and I wish I could go back to it being barely explained with assumption that Reeve is controlling it remotely and putting it on autopilot when he's in a meeting.

Reeve and the animatronic cat share some kind of technological hive mind. The cat is autonomous so Reeve can just leave it to its own devices most of the time, but he can take control whenever he wants. The moogle is not sentient.

You can arrange it a different way. Reeve gets arrested sooner, and you have to bail him out and he just lives on the high wind. Then he gives the same speech to the team.

The game never has you bail Reeve out either, he just vanishes from the storyline.

The problem is that it feels like a new mechanic that doesn't fit. Reeve isn't a Cetra so where does his powers come from? It should be explained through Materia or technology. Inspire could literally just be a materia that Reeve and Caith Sith are equipped with.

My headcanon:

>there are multiple cats for each Saucer area
>they all have a different personality or variation (Cait Sith II has a southern accent for example)
>Reeve can remotely jack into any cat and control it or speak through it
>he can also leave the cat on autopilot where it retains the individual personality and continues to follow orders

Reeve has to travel with the group and have his perspective on Avalanche change for his speech to land. He also doesn't disappear, he handles the evac of people to Kalm during the final push.
