Why did you say the game goes to shit halfway through or after the castle? The Factory is great

Same as RE7's ship section. Both the factory in village and ship section in 7 have the most classic RE-inspired gameplay. They have classic RE level design so from a gameplay perspective I can never understand people hating them. From an aesthetic perspective and also enemy variety, I can kind of understand people disliking the ship, since you can make the argument that it's samey. But the factory was genuinely interesting visually and at least ripped off a movie RE never ripped off before for it's visuals. Like it looked really neat and the enemies were great. I can't get behind people hating on factory it was the best part of Village.

Castle > Doll House > Factory > Fish area

Replayed Village last week and wasn't as bad as I remembered it but still not a good RE game. It plays like a CoD campaign.

you mindlessly go in a loop while killing enemies. its the most brain dead area of any RE game. a monkey could beat it

I think Doll house is probably the worst because it's awful on replays and has no enemies. It's the fastest of the four lords, but at the same time the one that drags on the most.
I think they should've had some doll enemies that can ambush you and change spawns on every replay to keep you on your toes.
Moreau at least has some combat, but is also short. I like Moreau though and he gets a lot more of his character shown than Donna, who I feel got shafted.
Castle and Factory are the obvious two big areas.
The village is arguably also one of the 'big' areas, but it doesn't realize its full potential. It feels like a lot was cut from the village section because you can have fully explored the entire village and gotten all treasure there by the halfway point of the game.

The factory ceases to feel like RE in any form and just feels like a generic FPS game, but slower. The enemy variety completely shits the bed too, and most of them even have glowing weakspots that just feels comical. The stylistic clash is also jarring, going from an otherwise consistent rural European town to suddenly some industrial frankenstein factory.

It's like a worse version of the island stage in RE4.

The bigger issues is that the factory and the castle stages were the only areas that were fully fleshed out. The doll house was neat, but could've used some better lead-up. Same goes for the fishing area; they just feel truncated, giving the game an odd 'saggy middle syndrome', which isn't helped by the illusion of choice with the whole merchant system reintroduced, considering every new weapon you find is better than the previous in every single way.

Honestly felt like Village crawled so RE4R could walk.
