Some of the changes are good, like support having the tracer dart gun so you can tracer dart infinitely.

Some changes are bad, like having a shitty 30 second drone for recon to spot with and also hard limits on height so in some maps you can't go higher than buildings and are stuck trying to spot in individual alleys.

It plays like bad company and 3 and 4 all of which were dog shit battlefield games.

Gone are the days where you HAD to have someone running transport to get you to and from objectives because all the objectives are a five second sprint away[fixed in 2042 by the way]

It's been devolved into a shitty do nothing but shoot at other infantry and ignore objectives and the vehicles farming your team. Die spawn repeat.

But this was always going to happen after they saw what happened when they became closer to cod with BC2 and player numbers shot up.

Consistently getting higher kill counts with the little bird and jets take more skill than deleting people with short bursts from the AEK/ACW-R/AS VAL/RPK, but they'll never admit this and instead lump every vehicle together. Don't even get me started on bipod LMGs and grenade launcher spam.

this genre of game is basically dead because they keep making them more absurd. like real combat is nothing like this. this is just an arcade game for kids.

and to make it more realistic would require people actually move slowly and work together and communicate, so it's just impossible. i watched some Squad 44 videos and that's apparently supposed to be the "realistic" game now, and it's still just a bunch of kids running around screaming like faggots. there's just no point in playing these games. why does everybody have a radio? why can I see a map with all of my teammates positions? why can i literally talk to my team after i died and say X enemy are in Y position? why can I repair a fucking tank in 10 seconds with a torch? none of it is remotely realistic or immersive

and then the clans/milsim servers are just 30-60 year old men pretending they're in Band of Brothers or Saving Private Ryan, like borderline reciting lines and whisper-yelling, like the most gut-punching cringe you'll ever experience.

I played this series with my dad starting with Battlefield 1942 all the way up until Battlefield 4, and then here and there until we both gradually stopped caring around the release of BFV.

Being excited for a Battlefield game in this day and age is going full-retard. I say that as someone that has loved this series from the beginning and bonded with friends and family playing it. After BF2042, no logical human being would hold out any hope for the next game not to be complete dog shit. If Battlefield 6 is great, I'll eat my words and check it out, but I'm not paying $80 + tip + tax + tariffs + tip just to fucking beta test a broken game.

Vehicles are the only reason why Battlefield won't be as popular as CoD. All the other games are either vehicle only (War Thunder, World of Tanks) or infantry only (CoD, R6S). Battlefield needs to remove vehicles in order to be successful.

It's a better 2042 but it has no server browser so it's actually automatically worse because of that, last time I played it I kept getting matches full of bots so I uninstalled. The gameplay is fun, guns feel nice and the maps are pretty good but that's about it. The heroes are shit and I prefer classes but it didn't really bother me while I played. Everything beyond that is trash, the menu, the shop, everything. Idk about the extractionslop mode since I don't play extraction. I played the battlefield clone mode for about 150hrs before going back to BF1.

Machinegunguy having ammo makes him more willing to use suppressing fire which is supposedly intended to be a mechanic even if DICE can't figure out what it's supposed to do since the CoDfags they were courting rejected it affecting anything of significance. It also fits the fantasy of the archetype better. I would go as far as to say that Support being LMGs + big crate of bullets is the ideal "just works" class that DICE should be striving to make other classes live up to.
