Then you have the magic shot too.
You can have three summons equipped at a time, and switching between them is like switching through weapons as DMC3 Vergil by cycling through them.
Although they work more like Dante's styles, giving you new mechanics you can use at all times.
Then you can also unlock abilities from each summon that are special moves that go on a cooldown when you use them.
The summons are:
Phoenix: Mechanic is like Dante's trick, you can teleport to enemies with a slash or a shot and there are various context based moves for this teleport mechanic.
Garuda: Her mechanic is Nero's snatch
Ramuh: His mechanic is like a shotlock from Kingdom Hearts DDD or KH3
Titan: His mechanic is like a block and parry, like Royal Guard
Bahamut: The mechanic is charging up megaflare and getting some dodge move
Shiva: She gets air dashes that can freeze enemies in place. It feels a bit similar to Nero's Gerbera and Dante's air trickster dash
Odin: He lets you replace your sword moveset with Odin's sword which gives you a new basic moveset that you can switch on and off at will. It deals little damage, but every attack builds the Zantetsuken meter which deals massive damage when full.
The DLC also adds two more summons you can switch between
