As for the gore being ridiculous and cartoonish, it's Mortal Kombat. It was always weird and cartoony. If it wasn't over the top it would just be a dude dying from one or two stabs at most.

Mortal Kombat has always been cartoony, brutalities in 3 made the characters explode with multiple heads and ribs, MK4 had basic moves where characters would break necks and spines, 5 had them bleed out over time, 8's ending turned them into gods and 9 had battle damage with skin hanging off their faces.
"Real violence" doesn't exist, dumbass.

Even today, GTA 5 stands as one of the most violent games ever created. GTA 6 is anticipated to be on par with or exceed that level of violence.
