Even SC2 spent more time on battle passes and gookclick ladder shit than it did on single player content, co-op, or custom games (that they wanted to monetize, stupidly). RTS were played by a different audience back in the day and some would play them single player campaign style or the rare coop, but the only thing to do otherwise at that point was competitive online so those fags basiclaly became the bellwether for the entire genre.
