Enlightenment is realizing Labyrinth is a good zone. /v/ literally cannot explain why it's bad without showing that they suck at the game and their complaints can be chalked up to skill issues.

Sonic was never good

Green hill is the only good individual zone.

Labarynth is a perfect zone to change the pace of springyard and give kids a seemingly insurmountable wall of chasing robotnick up that flooded tunnel

but I wouldn't load the game right at this zone just to play it.

Labyrinth is overhated. I have more problems with Marble and Springyard Zones than I do with Labyrinth. It helps that the music is awesome.

Nah it's shit
>Let's make Sonic just move slower and have to stop for a little bit to grab air
The shortcuts don't make the level good, they make it manageable, there's a difference. If it was good you wouldn't need to skip most of it.
That's also why big short cuts like that stopped existing for the most part outside of Sonic 1

>>Let's make Sonic just move slower
It only feels slow if you're stopping excessively to face hazards. Skill issue.
>>have to stop for a little bit to grab air
The only required bubble is a single one in the middle of act 3. Again, you are doing this to yourself by being too slow. You don't need to stop for every bubble. Skill issue.

Sonic literally runs slower underwater than he does on land, that's not a skill issue that's just a fact

No one has yet given a reason why that's an issue for the first sonic platformer in 1991

it's slow.

Sonic having a slower speed is made up for by all the obstacles you are overcoming, the constant movement forward, and the frequency of inputs given. Labyrinth also lacks waiting sections or automation in its level design. Hence while the movement speed itself is capped it only feels slow if you're playing poorly, the zone is actually highly engaging and allows for a relatively high amount of player input, e.g. weaving through the spears. If you took a Sonic game and doubled Sonic's movement speed but tripled how spread out the obstacles were, it wouldn't actually feel any faster in any non-superficial way.

True, probably the best music in the game.

If you're good at the game, it's the most boring zone in the entire classic trilogy.

Sonic 1 was the only good 2D Sonic and Green Hill Zone was the worst zone in the game.

This applies to Sonic 1 a lot in general.

you have to wait and lose your momentum, just like those stupid boxes you have to push in marble zone. that's anathema to sonic games
