So, the Nintendo Switch 2's launch was a failure from a quality standpoint, right? - /v/ (#712946215) [Archived: 967 hours ago]

Non-console player here. I never see any threads in the catalog about any of its launch games, whatever they are. I haven't even seen anyone joking about that 10 bucks manual + tech demo lately. I see occasional bait threads making fun of how it's not getting ports cause it's underpowered but even those threads get like 20 replies at most. The lack of excitement is palpable. What went wrong? I assume most Nintendo fans on /v/ are waiting a year or two before they buy it. Am I correct in that assessment?

I'm not buying a game key card unless they reach sub $10 prices. Mario Kart World is fine but extremely barebones. Anything else has been played before. Improved performance is nice but mostly I want something new.

Switch 1 was better at release than this pos of a console.

no it’s much worse. mario car and dankey dong are receiving lukewarm reception. nintendo has always had shitty hardware but now the games aren’t even good enough to sell the console

bro just seriously stop and think about it for 2 seconds. gaming is more popular than ever and population increase is out of control. every new console will sell more than the last just because statistically it has to

Nintendo’s biggest asset is its biggest problem. Nintendo is always trying to cater to the children’s fad crowd. This is why they release dogshit consoles that aren’t powerful, to trick children into spending the same amount on less hardware. This is why they can’t figure out what happened when they do the exact same shit and it failed, they cannot understand that they are a Chinese tin in a steel market sold by word of mouth, a fad. They are going to cater to the lowest common denominator of gamer, one that does not play games but literally only buys one because it is “the thing” they saw on TV. It is disgusting.

Define quality standpoint
The hardware is pretty decent - you get what you expect in that regard
Stock appears to be alright as well - at least nowhere near as bad as PS5 stock was this far in its life cycle

But shit online chat, a paid demo, and only one game worth getting on it right now are all very fair complaints
Theres DK, MP5 and Kirby Air Riders coming out this year but thats really it. Its an okay software lineup but nothing crazy and theyll need some heavy hitters in the upcoming years

I only got it because im a recovering idort

Do you consider the Switch 1's launch a failure since its flagship was Breath of the Wild, a multiplat?

Mario kart world is one of if not the best kart game
The tech demo game is surprisingly good, but yes should've been free
It's getting plenty of third party multiplat support, more than other Nintendo consoles

It's a good launch that could've been better with the free tech demo and another game or two

There's nothing interesting about any of the modern consoles. Nintendo usually has a gimmick to stand out from both previous consoles and its competition, but this is just the Switch with better hardware and chat functionality. Its launch consists of Mario Kart and the ability to play Switch 1 games without performance issues.
You'll see people talk about it when Nintendo announces a new 3D Zelda or something similar in impact.

The mouse is cool in theory and works sirprisingly well but i cant see that being used for much aside from the occasional strategy game
Maybe it'll be neat in the next FE, who knows

Memes aside, playing mario kart while I see the faces of my friends on that shitty nokia camera is pure KINO. Maybe ms or sony should make something similair, it makes online multiplayer so much more fun

>quality
considering the only major point of failure was a retailer being retarded with the boxes, something nintendo had no hand in or control over, it was a massively overwhelming win of quality
switch 2's aren't literally destroying themselves by being used normally like the PS5's shitty CPU cooling that leaks if you use the console at all

As someone who owns one, yes, absolutely. Mario Kart World is fun in short bursts, but it's not the game changer people expected and has its flaws. It alone can't carry the systems launch. I do appreciate the Switch 1 games running better on it, but in terms of actually new shit which actually uses the full potential of the improved hardware... it just doesn't exist for this year.
Even in my friend circles I don't hear much about it since people are either waiting until there's more games or got bored of mario kart already

Don't know about most, but I'm definitely not buying it until 2027 at least. I'm sure it will be worth it by then. Right now, it's a joke.

Personally I'm excited for the Age of Imprisonment game as well as Splatoon Raiders. Kirby Air Riders seems like it might be more far off.

Switch 2 is a classic case of "Millions of flies eat shit".
"People" see the brand logo on a product, don't care about what it actually is, and buy it anyways.
