Sooner or later, Firaxis will at least put as much "band-aids"/toggles as possible so that the game can resemble a "classic mode" to appeal to the (vast majority) of players who are still playing VI.
For a company, the line must always go up for the shareholders, and for VII, the line is only going DOWN.

4 was the first Civ I played, and maybe this is just cause I was a retarded kid, but every game felt different. Some priorities stay the same but by research order and troop creation changed.
I want Civ to go back to that, in 6 you are so railroaded into building and researching the same shit every game it's no longer fun. There's no reason for me to build a galley, I don't have any fish resources to protect and my harbour is built in a safe place that can't get plundered by barbs. But builing a galley gives me era score and I need more era score for my golden age so I have to build a galley anyway like I did for the past 10 games. Same with research boost shit. I don't wanna be forced to do the same shit every game to get OP research boosts.

I know this thread is about 7 but I wasn't retarded enough to buy that game so I can't complain about how it plays

The only sensible choice would be to announce a ban of female staff but that is too much of a wet dream, so the realistic sensible choice would be announcing EoS for civ 7 and updating civ 6 once more, starting with implementing a proper API so AI can be modded for longevity of the game.

I keep rolling it around in my mind how they could've made the civ switching shit less stupid, and the best I can come up with is that making it so you don't choose a specific civilization and instead build one from scratch with cultural tenants (for example, of you have a lot of horses you would pivot into a Mongolia like culture) along with presets...but that would defeat the entire point of civ, which is playing your flavour of historical autism.

I hate these guys so much. I've not followed the game that much, but removing requirements seems stupid as fuck. Civ switching itself is unpopular because it can be disjointed and mess with flavor/rp. Having a special requirement though would at least let you feel like you are working towards something. Instead of fixing the intrinsically flawed system though, they just bleach it and make it lamer. Is this all these guys can do?
