Well... you're fighting other people in a group. If you like RTS then it means you'd rather watch the battle from afar. Dota 2 is a closer look at the battle, and it's from the perspective of the soldiers instead of the general.

Dota 2 has like 4k hours in it but I stopped playing after friends stopped playing a few years ago.
I probably only solo queued maybe like 5-6 times ever.
TF2 is second up with 1k hours in it.
The rest kinda fucks around at like 500ish hours I jump games a lot when I get bored and rotate around.

I think I'll filter the thread before I have to wait another half an hour for someone to say nothing at all.

Original poster. I'd say the game starts to drag when you hit Archeology. And then you have to do a ton of filler junk, right when you want to focus on science and military. But I also agree that the win conditions are weak and anti climatic when you hit them. There should be an option where you "win" but then have to hold the victory for like 20-30 turns without another civ surpassing you. Or victory conditions take more work.

Warframe. 5k+ hours. Had quit because of the combo of taking Lotus away, retardation with interchangeable currency on infested open world, yet another "collect all parts to make almost the same thing" in form of necromech and card bullshit for Kuvalichi. Gameplay changes in main combat i consider to be actually good ones, but all above + what i see about plot now (plot only gets worse) made me quit for good.

Great to do group activities alone together on random worlds, you have not Wintertodt correctly until you've gone in with a couple clanmates for a 35min point grind for large crate rewards and exp.

Played every mainline pokemon besides ORAS and BDSP at least once, up to 6 from my count, gen 1 being uncountable since I'd run through R(G)BY and FRLG idly at times (LGPE a couple times as well)
I've played almost every spinoff you could name, just not some puzzle or Rumble games. Some played twice, or 3+ times in PMD EoS's case.
Played the pokemon mod for minecraft for about 2-4 weeks per year until the server I played on shut down. I still go back to it, but for less time
Played some romhacks like Rocket Edition or Touhoumon Purple (I don't care about touhou)
Played some fangames like Type:Wild or Wilds, which are entirely different games but I still get them confused where they sit in my folder
Read the entirety of pokespe besides some later chapters of gen 8 and newer ones of gen 9. In fact I've read a lot of the arcs 3 times because of the yearly dumps on /a/
Read some of the PMD manga too though they're short
Played Showdown of course
/vp/ was my homeboard for two years, still check it about daily despite the rampant shitposting even worse than /v/ I'd argue
Watch useless information videos about pokemon like https://youtu.be/zcLivYHafCE
At least I'm not into the anime

Competitive online games in general. They were fun when I was a teenager, but I continued sinking hours into whatever game was FOTM long after I'd realized that all their communities were shit. The revelation that stressing out over my ranking in a game that I probably won't even be playing a month from now was such an important moment for me. Now I actually play games for fun.

You don't. It has its pluses if you are the clever one and eventually had figured out, that social interaction only brings frustration and is not for you, as you actually can live in your own head most of the time. But before achieving this there would be a lot of INCONVINIENCES in your life along with the feeling, that either normal people are insane and retarded or that you are.

I have almost 999 hours in an old save of Pokemon Emerald. I hit around 200 just from playing normally since I've had the save for over a decade, but a couple years ago I started getting into breeding for good IVs and EV training dumb fun mons. It's on an SP though; I cannot recommend this experience if done on PC because it's going to be fucking exhausting sitting there doing this shit. The SP can be held in one hand while you're doing literally anything else and makes a great little diversion to slip into your pocket and play on the go when waiting for something.

It's a very comfy game to have with you. I also didn't use any cheats or glitches; all of my progress is from doing insane shit with a party full of high level pickup mons and a level 100 Meowth with pay day that lets me buy whatever the fuck I want. Can highly recommend for people into a very specific and authentic 2000's experience, but potentially only for those.

I've seen basically every type of game of every genre, make and time period have someone autistically dedicated to playing it.
>Minecraft
>Factorio
>Clones of the above
>Any survival crafting game with horrifically dogtshit balanced and nightmarishly buggy PVP (ARK, Rust, etc.)
>Any PVP game/series in general (fightan, MOBA, FPS)
>Any MMO
>Any open world game
>Any retro game
>Any sim game (flight, farming, trains, etc.)
>Any racing game
Is there even a game or genre that doesn't have autistics?
For me it's been stuff like Terraria and ARK, 2000+ hours each. Probably at least 1000 if not 2000+ hours in LoL (hope it's on the lower side). Probably around 1200-1500 hours in Monster Hunter overall. Then a few hundred in shit like Skyrim, DRG, Factorio, etc. God knows how many when I was younger and Steam/tracking hours played wasn't as easily visible. I'd say a conservative estimate is 15,000-20,000 hours of my life have been playing video games, so roughly 2 actual years.
Don't think I'll ever have a game with more than 3,000 hours in it, honestly. Most games these days I can't even be bothered playing more than once if there's multiple endings.

If you are just starting out I would say to beat the base game first before even considering DLC maps or trucks. Thats probably like 40 hours of playtime for you to figure things out and finding the upgrades you will need for later. When you are close to completing Russia then start thinking about DLC stuff and wait for a sale of course. I'd recommend buying the year passes over single map packs since you usually save some money that way. As far as truck DLCs, the map packs come with good trucks on their own so I wouldn't say you need any of them but everyone likes the Mastadon DLC because its easily the best do everything truck.

It's just kind of a fun side effect of my grind. I get those items while pay day + pickup grinding as pickup gives you vitamins, which can then be sold for 4900, and then new vitamins can be bought from the energy guru for 4900 when he has his sales. Said sales have a 1/100 chance of happening in a few days after every battle you complete, so you end up triggering it a lot. It effectively turns vitamins into both a bank and a way to quickly EV train your mons.

If that sounds complicated yeah it is, Emerald has a lot of weird systems tucked away that most people never interact with. You can use them all to do fucked up obscure grinds and I never ever see anyone talk about it or try it. Mostly it was just to hoard rare candies for the lulz but I got tons of Leftovers and Earthquake TMs too from it. But yeah I do love hoarding the shit I get from my grind, it's fun.
