>>712970427The Myth 2 stuff is just a straight up lie. Myth 2's installer did originally have a bug where uninstalling it could also unintentionally remove files from folders in the same directory. It was discovered late in the game's development, so Bungie actually recalled all the pre-orders to fix it. They almost went bankrupt because this caused a huge financial hit, but it was unambiguously the moral thing to do. Also, there's a big difference between "This game might have been an Alien ripoff at some point in development" and "This game is blatantly copy/pasting art assets into a soon-to-be-released game". Game development is messy and the final product can vary wildly from original pitches or even early development concepts. Halo was originally supposed to be a Marathon followup, and elements like the Flood were actually pitched for Marathon 2. But Marathon 2 didn't contain the Flood and Halo isn't a Marathon sequel/spinoff. More than that, a shit ton of games are heavily inspired by movies. Duke Nukem 1-to-1 copies a line from They Live, Deus Ex has you cosplaying Neo from the Matrix, Dead Space's enemies are basically The Thing, it's hardly the same.
And I say this as someone who hates what happened to Bungie with Halo. But that's another story.
