Do any of the Nioh 1 bosses make a return? I liked fighting Yuki-Onna and the spider bitch, but I'd rather not have to replay Nioh 1 to do it. I've become too used to Nioh 2s Yokai abilities and all the ways I can animation cancel attacks.

IMO Nioh 1 has the best collection of bosses, and they're evenly split between human and yokai. There are only a handful of bosses I miss from Nioh 2, and even though Ren has more tools than Jin, the frequency Ren spams Flame Dragon/Exorcist Blade/Umbral Bullet is far greater than Jin does his Flame Dragon.

They are overused thanks to nioh2 being a fuckhuge game but i dont think they are boring.

>fun to bully when alone
>genuinely a nuisance when in grouped with stronger yokai
>has a stronger form tranformation that depends on you fucking up and either getting grabbed or not finishing another downed gaki
>can be ranged enemies with either rocks or bombs
>can ambush from the ground or from high places
They are genuinely decent low level enemies that just suffer from overuse.

Again, compare to the redskins they introduced in nioh3 which have like what? hyper armor in bighead mode and an USELESS ground spike trap that lasts less than 5 seconds, thats it.

Yeah, theyโ€™re spammed to hell but they kinda work as fodder, which every game like this needs. The real problem is they didnโ€™t evolve them at allโ€”same lazy flailing, same goofy sound effects. Imagine if they morphed or fused into a bigger monster mid-fight like some mini-Nurikabe or sprouted spikes when enraged. Instead we get 1000 reskins and bomb-throwing variants. Team Ninja really needs to spice them up if theyโ€™re coming back for round 3.

Like what exactly? Ninjutsu and Onmyo already have projectiles that have various quirks to them. Having the option to do headshots to knockout living weapon bosses is great because it's more options. I honestly love the fact that you can do this to human enemies across the entire board. I'm so sick of games that funnel you into a handful of specific play styles.

I'm glad ranged weapons can do that but there's no nuance to it. And if they wanted to expand the playstyles of guns/bows they'd be more integrated into the combat and have more applications.

But that wasn't what I was talking about, I said LW being vulnerable to head shots isn't interesting. You made all these moves when you can just knock the human down and immediately end it. That in itself can be fun and effective but theres not much back and forth to it if I can just ippon datara yorimitsu for example.

Considering the style change basically is sop job change lite this would be cool but it would only really work well imo if they also add the ability to chain cancel skills to change styles. Though at that point you're not only managing the stance system from nioh to ki pulse and string combos but you're also learning to chain cancel skills on top of that which I dont think would ki pulse so it would disrupt the flow
