I just finished the new prologue and got to the Blackwater Massacre part and it was sorta disappointing.

Arthur and Hosea aren't with the gang when the shit goes down. They just hear the bullets flying, so they pack up the caravan (the camp is in my screenshot) to get the hell out of dodge. Then Dutch and the rest of the gang later catches up to them in Tall Trees.

Then there's a whole chase up to the Grizzlies until the Pinkertons get taken out by an avalanche which was pretty wild.

How to fix the game:
>Rework all missions by allowing more leerway without instant game over
>reduce meddling with player invetory, stop forcibly switching weapons or focring certain ones into your inv
>fully rework guarma, make it an actual hub with visitable locations and sidequests
>add more epilogue missions in mexico
>port all equipment from online into SP so you can actually buy shit with all your money

Yeah and they failed. If they got anyone with brains they should cater more to SP fans than online fans, online gamers will accept any kind of slop they serve and they can even steal content away from them and they won't mind.

The story missions can be a bit on-rails and you'll definitely feel restricted sometimes but they're worth it in order to experience the story. Great characters and acting combined with a mostly great plot
The open world is NOT empty in the slightest. There are hundreds of random encounters and locations to find, along with tons of hunting and fishing and flower picking if you're into that shit.
Does anybody even know what "empty" means anymore? RDR2 and the last two Zelda games have ruined open world games for me with how well they do exploration.

Yeah. The fact that they make you sit through retarded repetitive drawn out animations even for shit as boring as crafting a bunch of bullets is proof that it's a game designed primarily to waste your time. The outlaw stuff should be the most engaging part of the open world but it is so jank, poorly designed, and ignored by the devs that it isn't even slightly fun. Commit a crime in the middle of the wilderness and get mobbed by hordes of infinite spawning lawmen with X-ray vision until you die or get on a horse and ride away, how exciting.

The story is the worst part of the game. The open world and side missions are the meat of the gameplay. It sucks ass and was written by faggots and every mission is shoot the guy now think about how hard it is to be a murderous criminal with a heart of gold wow such conflict. The only story missions that I even remember are the getting drunk in valentine one which was memorable and fantastic and the unskippable tuberculosis mission that telegraphed to me exactly how the story ends by being the one extortion mission you HAVE to do.

>an empty world
RDR2 has the liveliest world, with tons of interesting things to discover, and the most sophisticated NPC simulation system (and animals too!), with countless random events happening around you at all times. I still remember getting out of the bar in Rhodes and seeing a guy beat his wife behind it. I didn't stop him, women need to know their place. He ended up beating her more violently and drowning her in a horse trough. He killed her right in front of me and told me to fuck off if I wanted to do something about it. I didn't, and he angrily left. A couple of days later, when I visited the town again, the sheriff was hanging him in front of a small crowd. Public hangings actually happen from time to time in the game. I remember they hanged a prostitute in Valentine too. But I was more interested in a stray cat sitting under the scaffold.
Holy shit, nigger, name me a single game with such intricate details and an unthinkable amount of handcrafted content. I dare you to do it! You can't. You can LIVE in the world of RDR2 if you actually love interactive games, not faggot zoomer shit for retards
>an amazing story
It's good enough

The only way I would be interested in a "remaster" this soon is if they add the following content:
>Finish the RDR1 map (add Mexico)
>Port RDR1 campaign into the RDR2 engine and have the end of RDR2's story run almost seamlessly into the first game's story. Maybe add an extra mission of John and his family getting captured by Edgar Ross.
>Port Undead Nightmare into the RDR2 engine.
>Give us Undead Nightmare 2 (or some other supernatural/sci-fi equivalent) with wacky stuff to find and do across both RDR2's map add well as RDR1's map.

It's prettier but desu rockstar has been kind of stagnant with its sequels since GTAIV. The open world relies too heavily on the hunting meme desu. At some point when it first came out I realized that I had spent 30 hours running around waiting for uncommon pelts to spawn to get a jacket and just quit and went for a walk and didn't pick it up for another 2 years to finish the story lol.

Micah was the only one that was written like a time accurate outlaw. The rest were hippie posers. The Vanderlinde gang was a joke.

RDR2 is cowboy simulator. It's way too slow and tedious for me and the missions are extremely on rails.

Better off watching a bunch of old Westerns from the 60s and 70s.

From the little I played the physics and shooting are definitely top notch. The graphics as well as the facial animations during dialogue is also top notch stuff. I will eventually get around to it. I always feel like after the PS2 era Rockstar's games are carried very hard on presentation and their game engine which makes the shooting and physics of their games kino. But that doesn't necessarily mean they are the most fun games out there. They almost seem too good in a weird way at the cost of just going for pure fun factor if that makes sense.

I remember telling my friend this last time we were playing games. I was telling him how with Bloodborne I feel I can easily pick it up, play it, the game is faster pace and like immediately fun. Meanwhile a Rockstar game seems to take time to get into as in its "fun" but not immediately so. Almost similar to a JRPG. It takes time for it to start clicking that their games are "good" so hope I made sense there.

RDR is the closest you will ever get to a spaghetti western in a game. Italian directors led a massive shift in focus in the genre from slick Hollywood do-no-wrong American folk heroes fighting for objective good to violence, dark themes, morally questionable protagonists, and a shift to slow art house style pacing and cinematography. RDR2 couldn't even exist without spaghetti westerns. Spaghetti westerns did to westerns what Seinfeld did to sitcoms, it's literally the Genesis of the modern western. Are you blind, son? What a dumb take.

They don't really have to since Arthur and Hosea were doing their own thing. If it's not bullshit, the most I'd say they do is
>Arthur and Hosea doing their thing
>Suddenly hear gunshots, chaos breaks out
>Run over to see what the fuck is happening, only finding the rest of the gang after they got off the boat
>Escape

Not a chance in hell, if they did do a remaster it would just be slightly better graphics and adding the few guns online had into the single player, like the LeMat revolver.

Stagecoach (1939) had morally grey protagonists. the magnificient seven was also an inspiration to the italians, and it was inspired by samurai movies that were in turn inspired by even earlier westerns.

The getting drunk in valentine mission had more zaniness in it than most Leone films. There's also the wildlife photographer and other funny side missions, plus the random shit like ghosts and zombies and monks and treasure hunts and giants and other weird miscellania. The only thing it's really missing is a period soundtrack. Obviously it's not 1:1 to OUATITW, it's a video game, but it's all there.

Yeah the honor system is dumb but really most morality systems are shit. Rather they just get replaced with a reputation instead. Fallout NV had the right idea of using that over the karma system most of the time

Yeah I didn't say they invented morally grey characters. But they were the fad that finally popularized all those features and changed the genre. Stagecoach and 7, though great, are both clearly old guard studio movies that don't approach anything close to the subversion of the Italian directors. Look at the movies that came out in 67/66 alongside TGTBTU. Noone except my dad remembers any of them because they're mostly trite movies from a genre that was dying.
