learn how to code, obviously. but also try getting into making art and music as well. if you can be some what confident with those three things then you got a good chance at actually accomplishing your goal. also don't do anything with pixel art, retro styled indie games are so overdone.

So if I were you, I'd start with a personal project. Make some funny or interesting mods for a game, get your name known, interact with streamers streaming your game. Then start to work on your own game while you keep making mods, things to expand your portfolio. If you're gonna do it all yourself like Radiation or ConcernedApe did, then you're gonna have to learn to code, draw, write, and make music, to varying extents. If you find an opportunity to become friends with someone else, do so. More strings to pull down the line as you keep climbing.
