LS framegen however is solid.

please get higher standards
you aren't rendering the game at a higher framerate, you are looking at pretend tween frames not made by the game engine

It is kind of a "The rich gets richer" deal.
IF you are getting 60+ it is amazing but if you are trying to get 60(outside of emulation) it is not great, you are going to feel minor input delay.
I don't know how *good* of an impact it can do for your potato setup since my own is rather beefy and I lack one to test how that goes
Also *the* version being behind a beta kind of sucks for the user experience.

Honest answer. When I was using a potato I would consider this if there was an option to have it automatically applied on game launch. If booting up my game requires extra steps making it look like pic related then I honestly start feeling like a destitute hobo and it gets old fast. And now that I have a 5000 series card I don't even think about those things, I just boot up my games which are automatically set to high/ultra and play

framegen can work for old games too, i used it to make Baldurs gate 1 smooth because that game works in 30fps the effect was very nice but extra latency at that framerate in a real time combat game is noticeable (1 extra frame behind at 30fps is 33ms which is huge for a single player game) so i dropped it.

Being too based. It improves all older games locked at 60 and the ones that STILL are today (looking at you japs). It's also great for making up the deficit if I'm getting like 90 fps and want to get to 144. I wouldn't actually recommend it if you're some poorfag on a third worlder rig looking for a magic solution because frame gen looks and plays pretty fucking awful if you're playing at low frames.

What? Why is that a cope but getting used to delay isn't? Plus our eyes are very good at adapting to adapting and filling out missing information, the image that is projected to our brain is far from perfect, it isn't like a screen. Getting used to delay is much more work.

Unless you're using it for its real intended purpose (60+ to 120 etc.), there's just something non-white and third-world about framegen.

All those videos with new games, GTX 1650, low settings, FSR quality and FSR/LS framegen to 58 FPS. I can see you Americans and other brown thirdies playing like that.

1000 / 38 = 26 ms per frame in 38 fps
1000 / 75 = 13 ms per frame in 75 fps
(26+4) - 13 = 17 ms of added input latency.

BUT WHY??? Because you're looking at image with fluidity of 75 fps, meaning that the ideal latency that you'd expect should be 13 ms, not 26 ms. That is how you feel the delay between the image and input, you compare it to something you see. If it doesn't bother you, then you do you. But this is the reason why some people don't like framegen and I am just explaining it to you.

The input lag complaints about framegen are overblown. The games in which you need to minimize input lag are twitch shooters like CS:GO or Rainbow Six or Valorant, but nobody even suggests framegen in those scenarios.

All games ever made have varying degrees of input lag and nobody thinks about it too much. RDR2 has like 3x higher innate input lag than a game like Titanfall 2. If this were such a dealbreaker, we would have input lag tests for every big game just along the frame rate bars, we'd argue whether its 60fps are actually "true" 60 fps if it has a higher input lag than other titles have at 60fps. But people never gave much of a shit about that. People play their games on projectors, on old laptops, controllers and joysticks, handhelds, they hook them up on TVs without giving a shit, people leave Vsync on without even knowing any difference, people play on old wired peripherals that have higher input lag than modern wireless devices. Many people would probably be horrified if you measured the input lag of an average PS3/360 game, that input lag was way higher than you'd experience through game streaming today. But that never stopped people from enjoying games even in multiplayer.

In 99% worthwhile videogames FG will work just fine. Your perception of the game's visual fluidity will be vastly improved at the cost of like 0.02s longer input lag, which is a nothingburger. I play Darktide at the highest maelstrom difficulty (which is a very mechanically intensive first person game) with FG2x to go from 80 to 160fps and it's no issue at all.

Of course this varies heavily per game. Something like XCOM2 can be 4x FGd from 30 to 120fps without issue but the same idea is awful for an FPS like Battlefield, in which I'd only use FG if I have an 80fps baseline.

Why do you need fast inputs in XCOM2? It's not even a real-time game lol, you don't need any game mechanics or sudden reactions or sudden motions to play the game. No crosshair to aim, no sudden button presses to dodge or damage something. It's a 100% decision based game in which you think about something for a long ass time. There literally isn't any game mechanic in XCOM2 that requires you to have low input lag, it's comparable to an Excel workbook in that regard.

Your take on fps and reaction time like straight out of decade old esports monitor marketing material.

It just feels nice to have something happen the moment when you do something. Does browsing online *need* high fps? No. But it certainly feels much better with it. Now if my mouse or keyboard had delay in them the experience would immediately feel ass. I couldn't even hit the post button before getting used to the delay. And there's a lot of mouse movement and hovering over things.
