Every time I get a friend request, I assume it's because I got lucky and played well in one match (since I rarely talk in games). And so I end up always declining because I wouldn't be able to handle the embarrassment of them unfriending me once they realize what a shitter I am.

it used to be that you could make friends by just playing a multiplayer game, but nowadays the chat is filtered/policed and you're held hostage in a match with randoms due to matchmaking
so i don't know how to make gaming friends anymore

an actual problem with making friends from competitive games is that the games are really bad and inevitably a downer

like someone adds me and we play 3 matches, all 3 are scripted losses with ragey throwers or some shit, inevitably we stop playing and don't talk anymore

It's easy if you just talk and just ask to play with them. I made loads of vidya friends when I was a young lad by just talking about random shit with randoms, but at some point in life I became socially inept, even talking to randoms online.
