In the original story he literally abandons his plan to kill all the demons because it would mean Nuwa dying, and instead opts for destroying the throne even though it thrusts humanity into a SMT1 style post apocalypse. Destroy is his ending and demon genocide is Nuwa's

The most interesting thing is actually the direct parallel the game makes between Nuwa and Yakumo and Aogami and the MC. It means the MC is just as much as a contradiction as he is. When you think about it the demon haunt in general makes the MC a massive hypocrite. He needs to kill demons and protect humans despite preferring demon company and having a demon partner he holds above everyone else.
