As someone that finished DS1, you can probably just play the sequel. The plot of DS is corraled away in the opening and the closing of the game. Like 80% of the game has almost zero plot. When you start the second map considered most plot points paused up until you do the mission that requires you use a gas mask, towards the end, then the plot starts again.

I highly regret going through DS1. It's literally a game better experienced through watching than playing, kojimbo really realized the Hollywood gaming faggotry he always wanted.
