Even if PS has no games at least they have all of the third parties and all of the DLC propfit as well.

and fortnite, fifa, genshin, star rail, gta, etc. sony can make no games and still make fucking bank off faggot whales in their ecosystem. gaming is so different now than 10 years ago.

this alone probably ensures the ps6 is like $599 max just so they can keep all the whales on playstation.

Holy shit the entire Playstation ecosystem combined:
$382 billion revenue
$23 billion profits
Meaning the entire Playstation line, the entire ecosystem has a profitability rating of a measly 6%. 9.6% for the PS5.

That is some retail-ass profit margin. 10% is considered the LOW end of a healthy profit margin and not a single console except the PS1 managed that. 20% is considered VERY profitable.

Nintendo's profit margin is 23.81% in comparison as of last year. 3x as profitable as the entire Playstation line or 2.5x as profitable as the PS5.

Honestly, I'm not sure how this company is able to sell consoles at this point. I could force and put Elden Ring and Monster Hunter on the PS5, but those are a merely sequels, being spiritually or not, from older games.

It's very clearly correlated to the low attachment rates. People are playing f2p games or their yearly copy of CoD or FIFA and whaling in them instead of buying new games. The amount of time spent playing games isn't going down, they're just focused on playing the same games instead of buying new ones.

If you're an oldfag this should sound familiar, it's similar to what happened on PC in the 00's where everyone was playing WoW, CS1.6, DotA, Runescape and Korean f2p MMOs, and a couple other valve games like L4D and TF2. No one was buying other PC games to the point where Epic abandoned PC and started making 360 games instead. It wasn't until Steam started having sales where every game was $1 to $5 where people started buying games on PC again. The cheap as fuck humble bundles where you paid 99 cents to unlock all the games helped there too.

>PS5 is Sony's most successful and profitable console
Factually untrue. Read your own pic. It doesn't say "PS5 console" it says
>PS5 generation
"PS5 generation" as per Sony's own definition includes all profits SIE earned since 2020 (unclear if it's from November 2020 or if they count entire 2020 even before PS5 launched)
That includes: PS5 hardware, PS4 hardware, PSVR2 hardware, PS Portal, peripherials, PS5 games, PS4 games, PSVR2 games, PSS catalog sales, PC ports, PS+ subscribers, microtransactions, cuts from gacha etc.
If PS5 was doing so well Sony wouldn't have to invent an entire new way to obfuscate its actual numbers.
It's like when Sony was counting PSP and Vita togerher.

It's sad when even Sonyfags get bamboozled by Sony's shadiness.

Look at the absolute state of Valve and Steam in general. It's just a third party storefront and Valve barely releases any games at all. Steam is doing better than ever despite that just like what's happening with Sony right now.

So it is feasibly sustainable long term as long as Xbox is dead and Nintendo keeps releasing weak hardware that keeps games off of their platform. Many normalfags are still allergic to PC and Playstation is the default console where their software library is already at. That legitimately is enough to keep people buying Playstation for their third party games, which to be fair make up about 99% of games normalfags care about. With crossplay and discord allowing cross console voice chat(outside of Nintendo's ecosystem) then they'll just stick with Playstation because they can play with their friends on PC anyway and it's a cheaper up front cost. If they're playing f2p games then they don't have to pay to use their internet, but the CoDfags and FIFAfags are getting fucking bent over and fucked in the ass by the insane PS+ pricing.

Sony been getting less third party input than ever, and sony is complete slave to third parties unlike Nintendo.

MTX money is great but timed and don't cover costs alone, not mention that Sony scared away A and AA developers in favor of bloated ass big games that take decades to complete. Consoles live and die by it's catalog, Valve get away because games from 10 - 20 years ago still get sold on store.

Playstation currently gets the most new releases(outside of PC, obviously). Especially the bigger releases than tthe normalfags care about that are usually a bit more graphically intensive than what Nintendo's systems can handle as devs become lazier and lazier and need FSR to get their games running on PS5/Series X.

The ultimate red pill about the industry is that exclusives don't matter as much anymore because the vast majority are straight up multiplats. Only first party games by Nintendo are really left as actual exclusives, Phil Spencer has gone on record saying that exclusives don't matter as much any more to draw people into an ecosystem if they're not already in it and millions have been poured into the market research to arrive at that. PCfags that waited 10 years to emulate Bloodborne on PC come to mind as people that are already in their ecosystem and aren't interested in buying a DRM box just to play a couple games. Fuck, PCfags won't even try out Epic Game Store and EGS is giving away constant free games. You can't even pay people to swap ecosystems if they're not already interested in it somewhat.

People didn't really care about the quality of the multiplats so long as they could play them to begin with. The reason was more down to price as opposed to multiplat support. That was what helped the 360 gain a higher adoption rate (in the US, at least). Forcing you to buy your own 360 if you wanted to play online multiplayer with your friends.

It's changing a bit due streamers and shit, but issue is that your run of mill retard don't know how to use a PC nor build it properly.

A simple sudo command is wizardry to most people. Consoles are mostly retard proof for most part.

I know you're joking but only actual genuine retards believe the "no games" meme. Nobody and I mean fucking NOBODY cares ablut exclusives. Most people buy consoles for the convenience and will buy their multiplats on console. The only thing exclusives will decide is WHICH console people go for and since Xbox have all but dipped out of the race leaving PS5 as the only actual choice of console, no shit they're seeing success.

>Are they? I feel like the Steam Deck is accomplishing what people thought the "Steam Boxes" people were talking about 10~15 years ago were going to do.
The Steam Deck still hasn't shifted the market in a major way sadly and you do have to mess around on protondb for some games instead of having them work out of the box which is what the normalfags want.

But the major thing holding it back is that it's not easily available to buy in stores. A Deck 2 that auto pulls from protondb, is sold in retail stores, and has better hardware so it runs more new games could sell very well. PC gaming is already much more accessible than it was 20 years ago thanks to Steam, so if that trend continues I can see some more people make the jump to a Deck 2.

Nintendo doesn't get the same games, this idea that the Switch 2 will get all the games and Sony is fucked is laughable when the Switch 1 had a massive install base that trounced the PS4 and still didn't get releases because it was too weak for them. Games like Cyberpunk on Switch 2 already have performance issues, with next gen starting in 2 years that is bound to happen again where the ports just stop and Playstation is the de facto console for normalfags to play their normalfag games on.

Really, the idea that exclusives matter was contradicted years ago with the launcher wars on PC. Every company was putting out their games on a separate launcher and didn't sell their games on Steam. It didn't matter how many exclusives they had, people didn't want to use them. The majority of those launchers are dead now because of that and every single company came crawling back to Steam because once gamers have an ecosystem, it's rare that they move. Console generations are no longer a massive reset, all the games carry over. Sunk cost is now a major factor and it will only get worse as retarded normalfags buy digital copies they can't resell if they want to leave an ecosystem. The normalfag going into a Gamestop and trading in his PS5 might not have any physical games to show for it, he'd lose hundreds of dollars of digital games tied to his account if he did that. That's why he buys the PS6.

PS2 wasn't selling enough in 2026 to make up for the astronomical fuckup PS3 was.
You can even look at this graph made from official financial statements for entire Sony Interactive Entertainment's yearly profits. """PS3 generation""" from >>713016282 is identical.
One is in yen the other is in dollars, so there are some variations.

There wouldn't be a problem if they called it what it is: SIE's profits in the last 5 years being the biggest in history.
Trying to paint it as "PS5" despite including profits that have nothing to do with PS5 like PC sales is intentionally misleading. And that's what I suspect they wanted. Shills like Zhuge are reporting in it without explaining what's going on and that's how you end up with OP's "PS5 IS THE MOST PROFITABLE"

History is right there and you're unable to see that it's going to repeat, how sad. Game devs are getting more incompetent, you should agree with me on that. So a PS4 Pro level console getting games that barely run on a PS6 is not going to be a thing. Even games that barely run on PS5 aren't very likely, the Switch 2 has an awful CPU and most of the difficult games to run right now are CPU bound because everyone is releasing open world trash and open world games are heavily CPU bound.

>everyone just pirates on PC.
Empress stopped cracking years ago, there has been 0 people removing Denuvo since then. It's either companies fucking up and uploading a version without Denuvo onto Steam or something like Metaphor where a demo was released without Denuvo that was used to bypass the final game's encryption(Sega is putting Denuvo on their demos now so that's dead).

>What history, the fact everyone that could port their games to Switch did
Yes, the issue here is that the majority of new games don't fall into that category. That's what I'm saying here. The Switch 1 outsold the PS4 like crazy, it was by far the most successful console of the generation, but it STILL stopped getting ports of big games and not just western games either, even Japanese ones when it's essentially the only console in Japan because it's sold like 8 times as much as the PS5.

If that couldn't convince people to try to make the port work, that's not going to change with the Switch 2. It's going to not get ports that it's too weak to run in the exact same way. The Switch 1 was flooded with 360/PS3 ports initially, then got some Xbox One/PS4 ports and didn't get many XSX/PS5 ports. History repeating itself means the Switch 2 gets a shit ton of PS4 ports right now, then some PS5 ports that can run, and then barely any PS6 ports.

>Doesn't matter when they stop paying for Denuvo all the time
Sega in particular stubbornly keeps Denuvo on their games so that's not a given. SMT Nocturne is still saddled with Denuvo as an example. It was also never cracked, you have to play it through a Switch 1 emulator on PC if you want to pirate it.

This is from a few years ago, and has only gotten more drastic since. They made ~$2.5 billion in profit this year. That 32% of revenue from microtransactions is from the fact that like all storefronts, psn takes a 30% cut of any transaction. So, your fortnite lootboxes, robux, genshit pulls, fifa, cod, etc. Because these are coming in from 3rd parties, they took on zero risk, while reaping 30% of the reward. $8 billion in literal free money, and they made $2.5 billion in profit that year.

What exactly does that mean? Also, no shit it would generate more money. With the convenience of digital sales, subscription services included on the console (no doubt Sony gets a share from Spotify, Netflix, and so on) paid online with PS+, F2P monetization practices, etc. it's no wonder it would generate more money.

That doesn't say anything about public sentiment about the actual fucking CONSOLE and brand.
