As I get older I can feel this dull ache in the wrist after a few games of Dota and I realize how gaming is both physically and mentally taxing on the body. Getting older is a real curse.
Anybody managed to fix this type of pain?

play more games with a controller I'm not even joking. if it has controller support and doesn't full on require a mouse to be playable then you will absolutely save yourself some wrist pain.
I play shit like Mass Effect, or platformers, or so on with a controller specifically for this reason, but any FPS stuff or TTRPGs or such i use a mouse for.

I stopped getting that type of pain after swapping to a vertical mouse particularly for work. Takes some getting used to + at least for me I'm still worse at FPS games with it even after 6+ months using one but beats physical pain.

vertical mice just shift stress to different muscles, they don't actually fix the underlying issue and are just tools people use to fuck up other parts of their hand over time if they repeat the same issues as the first
also, do not use the dumb retarded wrist guard shit (NEVER EVER IT IS ACTUALLY AN ACCELERATOR)
realistically you should've just fixed your fucking posture and taken breaks when you felt any sort of pain

>>713019864
>And with vertical mice it's much easier to not have your wrist touching anything
Absofucking lutely not, the average vertical mice is incredibly heavy compared to an average one and if you're touching the desk/mousepad with your wrist before, odds are you're going to be touching it with the side of your wrist instead because you don't magically just stop holding a mouse correct when you swap out, unless the one you're using in the first place is an incorrect size and you manage to luck out on a vertical mouse being the right size and just correct for your hand and posture somehow.

In fact, using a vertical mouse incorrectly is a hundred times worse than a regular mouse

You need a proper elastic one that wraps around, and you wrap it around a bit higher, about 1-2cm. The idea is to restrict wrist movement, that far down it's going to do jack shit. The thumb stuff is better but sucks long-term for blood flow.

Switch between a vertical mouse and a regular mouse throughout the day.
Using a vertical mouse 100% of the time is not going to help, you're still going to get a repetitive stress injury. There is nothing inherently "ergonomic" about a vertical mouse. You need both mice plugged in at the same time.

I'm using it because it feels very uncomfortable without any support under the wrist at all, the hand feels way too "free". And wrist support mousepad feels bad because it limits the hand movement a lot, so the sweatband is kinda middle-ground, I can move my hand all over the big mousepad when I want, yet the wrist movement is still a bit limited. No way in hell I'm wearing some tight band on my hand for 10+ hours.

I had this happen to me OP, it's not reversible 100% but you can make it much better and with care you won't notice it much. Get some type of support for your wrist, also do some exercises for your wrist, when not gaming use a mouse with a trackpad instead, don't bend the wrist and try to avoid putting it in that position most of the time. It'll get better, mine got really bad. and if i stop doing some of the tips i just gave you I can feel it creep in again, so I start.
It's annoying to still have a bit of it but for a while my whole wrist hurt as hell it was awful.

if you're deficient pills won't catch you up
Do make sure you buy good quality stuff if you're in the US though. Companies cut vitamins with bullshit. Vitafusion and Nature's Bounty are both brands with clean vitamins

I take a multivitamin, d3 and magnesium + ashwaganda personally and the difference has been night and day but it never hurts to go get your blood tested. Could warn you about other stuff too.

Ive got this genetic thing where the tendons or ligaments or whatever in my hand tighten. Its not bad now but at rest my hand is more closed than normal. My mom and uncle have it where at rest their hands are like monkeys paws all curled into a fist. Apparantly theres a surgery for it

Is your uncle also your dad?
Jokes aside get the surgery sooner rather than later if you're able to

Ah at least you've got a plan then. Off-topic but do they know what causes the anesthesia side effects for you? It does something similar to me too, not depressive but I feel legitimately retarded for like a month after. It also apparently isn't very effective on me even though I'm not a very large guy.

No clue, the dentist who pulled my wisdom teeth said "depression isnt a side effect of propofol or fentanyl" I spoke with my then doctor who said "that doesnt happen" and then my new doctor who said "Ive never seen it personally but you did get a hit of hard drugs, you might have just had a severe hormonal bottoming out". Mind you Im not depressive and am pretty content with my life, so to be told "thats not real" as Im feeling the closest Ive ever felt to "I could just fuckin do it and noone would care" for 3 months pissed me off quite a bit

get a wrist assisted pad that you can rest against, and start eating more collagen, easy to make some soup with some chicken feet added in, also look into glucosamine chondroitin + MSM, helped with my joint pain after playing sports for years
