>"Please I hope this game'll be as good as this trailer is, it's the first time in years that I'm this excited for a new game! Hope we can hear more about it soon"
>"Very excited for this. The leads here lead the charge during the best eras of Destiny's PvP."
>"This game could be sooooooo good. The original marathons lore is awesome I hope this lives up to it."
>"mind blown. Amazing artdirection and the audio/music is incredibly well done. Very excited for this."
These are just some quotes taken from the Marathon announcement trailer. A trailer which, need I remind you, was 1:40 of a character in a spacesuit running down a hallway before getting sniped. Zero gameplay was shown. The only thing of note was some admittedly visually interesting cutaways.
Was it hype culture that led to this response, where people were desperate for something to be excited for? Or were they bought and paid for? While the comments are very different now, two years ago there was overwhelming praise being thrown at such a nothing announcement that turned out to be an aborted shart.
