I've got no context from other souls games so I can't say what's different about him
All I know is he slaps shit and is the only "Castle Basement" boss my group won't fight unless we're lvl 10+
Normal Castle Basement bosses are ok at lvl 5+

The easiest way to make executor carry his weight is to put ice/poison on his default weapon so he can shred things with his 40 arcane, barely utilizing the parry at all
His art with the healing roar relic is also incredibly versatile and can save your team from many different situations
The parry is a defensive tool that leads to free posture damage which I don't think any other character can do, but you can't really force its use even with all the right relics, you just have to know when to keep it sheathed

I remember the BBH boss in that area in altus plateau castle area was such a pain in the ass for me it took me several hours but I remember learning parry timings for everything, he's one of the only bosses you can actually parry a lot

Parrying (not executor deflects) in nightreign isn't that hard to do and once your retard teammates get themselves killed BBH is a cakewalk.
