You have to go to different planets and dig for metroidium to upgrade your ship. Metroidium is just a giant crystal metroid and also baby Ridley is riding on samuses shoulder acting as a narrator for the gameplay. This is how I see this game.

The difference is that DK still has lots of platforming elements. The movement looks fun and the artstyle is nice. It's nothing like faggy NMS because all you do is slowly walk and dig for stuff in a procedural world. DK has level design. DK has movement. The only thing in common is that you break terrain, which apparently is enough to make you cry. Also you hate Pauline for some reason. She's not gonna narrate the whole game. Calm down you manchild.
