Let's be serious for a minute.
If there was ever an example of something that is, unironically, "forced soul", I think it would be DK Bananza.
Let's not get it twisted - it doesn't look BAD. But it does feel like they're trying a little too hard. Maybe if this was the DK we were all familiar with growing up, it'd be another day for everyone. But he just kinda seems a bit more generic now. The thing about his portrayal in DKC was that he looked and acted more animal like, but they still made him be silly if they called for it. He was still plenty expressive and gag-like. So this feels more like they took out the balance and went all the way in, and seeing the edits of the old DK style for Bananza, I think that makes the case stronger.
It's not BAD. It's just a bit too much. That said, I'm curious how the game will be like, hopefully it will fill the Mario void in my Mario heart.

Rare's Donkey Kong always had a terrible design.
Every official pic released in the last 20 years looks like someone fed of those awful low fidelity 90s renders to Stable Diffusion for a img2img with a 3D cartoon Lora. It's uncanny.

I also hate the new look because it reminds me of that detestable jew from the weed movies, don't remember the name.
