>>713047874>SMTnot unnecessary. brand recognition. especially considering it came out when the internet was far less used and people would be less aware of what the game was. putting shin megami tensei on the box gave people an indication that it was within the same line of games where they can now release something like metaphor without needing to brand it as shin megami tensei. or like how persona games used to be "shin megami tensei: persona" but the most recent game was just "persona 5".
>Devil Summonerthey are tying gameplay elements to this subline of the franchise. it isn't digital devil saga, it isn't persona, it isn't mainline. it differentiates things from the rest of the franchise while still keeping the brand recognition of SMT. also, like i said, doesn't tie them down to making all devil summoner games about raidou or set in the same setting.
