What do you call someone who plays videogames all the time yet is still dogshit at playing them? I've been lurking /v/ and /vr/ again lately and noticed a lot of you suck at videogames.
It doesn't make sense to call someone casual when their entire identity revolves around games. This isn't new either. I've met lots of people over the years, in person/online, I've even been to a few conventions, and a lot of the people that obsess over this hobby are just shit at the games.
I don't even think of myself as a gamer, but for me the trial and error of learning a game and getting good at it is what makes this a fun hobby. Otherwise you might as well be collecting funko pops.
So /v/, do we have a word for these fake gamers?

Which type of game though, I'm not great at top down turn based RPGs, but I'm really good at RTS games.
I also don't consider myself a gamer thouhg, I just like playing vidya. I don't want to make it my whole identity, that would be gay AF.

My point isn't to make fun of people who aren't good at games. I've rarely been good at a game right away. It just seems like spaces online for videogame discussion are overrun by people who engage way more with the social aspect of buying new games or memeing on videogame related news and e-celebs.
How do we distinguish these people from the rest of us who actually want to play games, like for the game part?
