I don't think he is K.Rool but if kremlings and K.Rool ARE in the game (not confirmed yet of course), I wouldnt be surprised if the game was a sorta origin story for them, like they are reimagined to be from deep within the earth and are awakened by the events of Bananza.

Anon, this is completely in line with Nintendo to be underwhelming with their villains, Lord Fredrik came from them too. As much as a twist would be great, not having a twist would be more daring than to have it.

He's fine as an antagonist but I feel like he just doesn't work as a final boss. I know "little guy piloting some sort of big machine / golem" is a historic staple of 3D platformer final bosses, but I also feel like its always been a bit underwhelming.
I'm setting myself up for disappointment though expecting some sort of "true final boss" where Void Kong is the second to last boss that his design really screams to me.

My actual guess is that he isn't K. Rool, just somebody that either idolizes him or is being tricked by him into getting to the planet's core, where obviously K. Rool tosses him aside as he uses the Banandium Root (which is actually the remains of the Krem Kore after Crocodile Island was sunk in DKC2) to turn himself into God K. Rool and hits you with one of those pants-shittingly difficult final boss sequences that makes you use all of your abilities to the fullest followed by an epic scripted last rush where Pauline powers you up and you beat the absolute shit out of K. Rool just like old times' sake.

God I loved Build, one of the best in the series. I can totally see a final battle in this game starting off with DK and K. Rool being giant, before using up most of the Banadium and being forced to go back to the other forms until it is just regular DK vs K. Rool again.
