I know it's literally just a copy+paste of Alan Moore's Swamp Thing, but hey if it works it works.

Plot twists are so gay. And the more your story relies on a plot twist the gayer it is.

They're good if they're foreshadowed, but gay if it's "haha look at this thing we purposefully hid or obfuscated from you, bet you feel stupid now huh?"

Probably will forever remain FF7, as simple as it looks nowadays.

>They're good if they're foreshadowed
This almost never happens. Instead it's usually like
>Alvin left the garden section of Home Depot. On his way home, he turned into a tree!
Technically yes it's a plot twist but it doesn't make any sense, and just because a tree is thematically related doesn't mean the garden center was foreshadowing.

Itโ€™s actually even worse if itโ€™s foreshadowed because youโ€™ll never not notice it again and itโ€™ll stick out like a sore thumb.

Is it really a twist if it's in the title?

I don't know about greatest by Farcry 2 really punches you in the gut with it's plot twist. You can't trust anyone, ever, at all.

Poor deduction, considering he also runs into a random girl, Marla, that is exactly as cynical about life and deceptive as him yet vulnerable and willing enough to get in bed with him in a shithole and later puts up with his sporadic inexplicable behavior for no benefit to herself.
But she isn't an imaginary dream girl.
Nor are any of the useful idiots who gather around and follow his word without issue.
