Why does Morrowind get all the attention when Neverwinter Nights exists. This game is just begging for a Faerun Rebuilt project.

what's your favourite class? i've only played monk (i'm playing now but i've only ever gotten to act 2) and i like it but some part of me thinks i should play a fighter so i can make use of all the cool magic items i find.
do you keep one character through all the different campaigns or start fresh for each one? i've never tried multiplayer or any campaigns except the vanilla one

Does Neverwinter Nights require the same thing as OpenMW for Morrowind to be decent to play?

no, I know the original works on Windows 7, and I know Enhanced Edition works on Windows 10 & 11, idk where the original stands with Windows 10 & 11, and all the mods are compatible with both versions

First person RPGs are more popular than CRPGs.
Also a large part of the reason why bethesda games have such good modding support is because of the tools bethesda makes available to modders

Paladin is busted in the original campaign because you fight lots of undead, they even give you a holy avenger later iirc. The fighter/bard/RDD combo can also delete everything in all three main campaigns, makes the game extremely easy so it's not as fun
Last time I went through SoU I used this one and was pretty fun: https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/nwnecbguild/green-knight-of-ehlonna-druid-28-ftr-4-cot-8-t2353943.html, that forum has a lot of interesting builds but they're mostly for multiplayer, still worth a look though.

>RTWP DnD game
>no good party mechanics
There’s your problem.
NWN is only good for peresistant worlds and custom modules. It was VERY popular for that but the time has passed.
Nowadays it’s just a DnD game with the classic DnD game gameplay, only you can only play one dude

I don't understand why every dev doesn't do what Bethesda does by releasing mod tools. It keeps your game relevant for years instead of being forgotten after 2 weeks.

If you want to rebuild it in the new engine, you need to make it VERY modable. The NWN1 is all about modding.

Tons of games release dev tools that nobody ever does anything with, outside of maybe one forum on a far flung corner of the internet where one person releases one shitty level they made.
Fuck man now I'm remembering when my friend showed me this random hunting game he played as a kid, and the devs had released a full level editor, it had an ATV in it so I made a small tool to generate positions for geometry to make ramps out of the haybale asset
I'm with you that every dev should do it btw, along with 5 year source code releases, but yea tons of games do it and it doesn't change their relevance at all. Hell ubisoft released level editors for their games for decades and like literally 10 people in the entire world care about it out of the millions that play them, now mind you yea those don't compare to something like the TESCS or GECK but still.

Some games do but they started late, whereas bethesda has built up their mod community from the early 2000s. And some devs just hate modding entirely.

Shadows of Undrentide and Hordes of the Underdark use the same character
The Hero of Neverwinter (the character you’re playing now) is someone else

Oh, do yourself a favor and DO NOT GET the thing where you get a free hit on a second adjacent enemy
You won’t be able to turn it off and it will wreck your single-target DPS

NTA but the quality of the tools really matters.
Also, the reason TES games get so much love is they're easy to add to. A lot of games in order to use the tools you'd have to make your own game or at least a level which is a much more daunting task than say adding a dungeon or short quest. The open world nature helps them a ton.
It's only once people get comfortable with small mods and the modding community becomes active that big mods are even looked at.

Neither; it's a RTwP CRPG. The gameplay is nonexistent. The environments and world are really generic IMO but that's subjective.

I absolutely love the fact that 5e has a 2d6 maul.
I just cannot grasp how and why the older editions made greatswords and greataxes were always stronger than blunt weapons like the warhammer and mace. Like, how the fuck does an axe or sword do more damage than a heavy mass of steel swung at you at immense speed with the force of a semi truck? There is a reason those were the only weapons that could reliably fell a late medieval knight clad in plate.
So that is one thing e5 e did well compared to others like e1 and e3.5.

I'm deeply in to hacking communities, I partially agree with you ease-of-use is a factor, but I think it's more just about popularity. Bethesda games are very accessible, so they lend more to popularity, then they also have a somewhat easy to use tool (even if it does crash constantly) that they give you a step-by-step tutorial on how to use to make your own level in. There are quite a few popular games with large modding scenes that had no tools whatsoever, the community made them themselves (Look at Resident Evil 2 Remake, Monster Hunter World or Doom for good examples of this, and yes there are other adjacent games with tools but those were the ones the tools were designed for initially the others are just updates) while, for example, every Far Cry game has had a bundled level editor since 2008 but nobody used them until Ubisoft added an in-game browser for levels and a points reward system, and even then people really just used them for the points, but the tools have always been decent.

>I just cannot grasp how and why the older editions made greatswords and greataxes were always stronger than blunt weapons like the warhammer and mace.
The trade off was that blunt weapons had a higher critical modifier but lower critical range as well. So on a 20 you innately do 3X with blunt weapons while swords threaten a critical on 19 or 20 but usually only do 2X. Exotic weapons broke that trend however and were all over the place in stats.

Whoever thought that taking your shoe off which requires the taking-off-shoe skill which will fail and you will die if you roll bad enough, would be fun needs to be executed. Be it tabletop or video games DND is for fucking retards that hate fun

OP means he wants more of Faerun in NWN, like Tamriel Rebuilt which just adds more stuff to Morrowind outside of Vvardenfell.
