i want an open world boomer shooter

I want to play boomer shooters, but back when I tried to play Turok 1 and 2 I would get hopelessly lost just wandering around the level for hours. Same with Hexen. Is there any hope for me?

Play Ashes Afterglow mod series. They are like linear like Half Life but with Doom engine.

It's hard to fathom how good Ion Fury looks, they really worked the shit out of that engine.

I've heard this before. I think it's just extremely temperamental with regards to what hardware it runs on. I played through it on a 1070 and it ran fine the entire time. If it has a demo I'd recommend trying that (or pirating it to try it) to see if it runs well before buyfagging.
