Why is there no unique vidya anymore? I've been gaming since the 1990s and I think between the 90s and 2010s there were so many unique and creative games. Now it's just
>Soulslike
>PvP shooter/moba
>Gacha
The industry is so fucking soulless these days.

Games take too much time and money to make now, so publishers only greenlight safe products.

It's probably the reason movies are shit and boring these days too. The movie industry between the 80s and 2000s was shitting out creative banger after banger.

Because everything became standardized and gaming journalists attacked any game with unconventional controls or camera. And to be fair, people stopped accepting anything different. When i was a kid, 3D gaming was new. So we didn't have any preconceived notions that all games needed to control the same. So we learned to play anything. Now a game like OG RE4 is something new gamers struggle to get into because it doesn't follow the typical twin-stick shooter control scheme. So if you're trying to make money, you make something typical.
