When playing with randoms, the game will give you an option of three tracks or random. The three tracks are weighted to be nearby tracks, and if so, they're the "intermission" version (where you drive from where you currently are to the track you picked, and only do one lap of the track you picked). It CAN pick non-nearby tracks, in which case you do a normal 3 lap race, but as I said, it's weighted to prefer nearby ones. If you pick random and it picks anything not nearby, you do a three lap race there.

In player-created lobbies, it does all of the above, but you can also bring up an alternate menu that lets you pick any track you want.

It's always wild to me how little the Gamecube sold. I was a Nintendo hardcore all through that generation. From SNES to Cube. It was "the PS2 era", in the world but the Gamecube Era for me.

It was Resident Evil Remake of all things that made me branch out.
