COD began to irritate me around that time. BF3 was a step back from BC2, but it was still alright. I still pretended to hate it with 2 million hours played though.

both are the safest games in their respective series. They don't really do anything necessarily wrong but nothing really great either
mw3 is just a more balanced version of MW2

BF3 is middling for the most part but not necessarily any worse than any of the other frostbite games. Its highly overrated and did a lot of things worse than BF2 and BC2 while not really expanding much on what was pre-established. It's BC2 with a slightly worse class balance, worse gunplay, but more combined arms elements but none of it with the depth that later games would have

BF3 lacks the class cohesion that BC2 had. Assault is the do everything class and everyone else gets singled into very specific roles that don't offer much gameplay variety. BC2 didn't have radically more but its noticeable.
The gunplay is also a step down with weapons now feeling much more flaccid and the addition of suppression being terrible overall. Vehicle balance is also terrible and air assets are annoying to fight against as a regular soldier with your limited options. Launchers overall feel weak and buggy compared to BC2. Maps are also more of a side step than anything. BF3 feels like it took the wrong lessons away from BC2 in that regard. BC2 made maps a bit chokey and funneled players into linear engagements and BF3 took that and made metro. Also general weapon balance feels worse but that could be subjective tbqh. BC2 wasn't perfect in that regard but in BF3 I always feel at a disadvantage if im not using the M16A3 or the AEK
