I loved Lies of P when it came out but I can no longer enjoy its DLC after playing this kino.
It is best souls-like after Nioh 2

I played like half the game as dual blades and their damage is so fucking low and the bosses are so hp spongy. I didn't really want to focus on the dodge and counter while dodging type gameplay that I realized is pretty much enforced by dual wielding to actually do good damage.
didn't want to effectively start again from scratch on another weapon so I ended up dropping it, will probably pick it up again some time, especially since it got some new modes and learn a different weapon from the start.

game is great but damn I wish I had just went with greatsword when I saw it could do perfect guards while charging, as the charge time vulnerability was my only issue with it

Dual Wield is strong and there was no need to restart since you can respec everything.

yeah ik u can respec. i'm not saying dual wield is weak, i'm saying I dislike the playstyle of having most of its damage come from doing evades that also hit the enemy. not to mention how much spirit it seems to use compared to other weapons.
but I don't want to pick up a new weapon that I barely know wtf i'm doing with 80% of the way through the game instead of just learning from the start, the enjoyment is beating the bosses with your own playstyle, not trying to cheese through or skip the actual gameplay and fun part.

After you get past a certain point, all your damage is really going to come from spamming Whirlwind over and over I think. It pretty much perma staggers everything and does tons of damage.
>>713109039 (OP)
It's got some of the best combat I think and some really good bosses, but the story is whatever and I really don't like how copy-paste the side missions are. As an overall game I think Wukong is better

The levels in this game are really just kind of boring. The boss fights are really fun and action packed once stamina stops being an issue but the levels are just so mediocre. Like you can tell the game was made for just 1v1 combat against a boss.

I actually feel like the enemies are pretty well designed here as well, if a bit lacking in variety. I think they are more fun to fight than at stuff like hollows in Dark Souls, or the various soldiers in Elden Ring.

I liked Khazan but with brutally difficult games like that I really hate being limited in my options. I really wanted more weapons. 3 is a big letdown. I don't want to cheese stuff. I just want to tackle the challenge with a build I'm really into and enjoying.

I never really got the complaint about limited weapons, since it means they can put more effort into each one. One weapon in Khazan has more depth than half the weapon types combined in Elden Ring for instance, and many consider Sekiro to have the best combat in this type of game despite that only having one single weapon (and arguably only one playstyle)

cause it's stupid easy to pick up. You don't need to learn the weapon but only the boss.

Just Nioh 2, or do you include Nioh 1? I liked that game, the faster pace was enough to keep me playing to finally get into Souls-likes, but I didn't finish it because I got filtered by the copy-paste

I prefer 2 but know a bunch of zealots who argue in favour of 1 due to its boss roster.
The end game is definitely more for enthusiasts but the combat is so juicy I played all the way into underworld. Expecting big things from nioh 3

Nioh 1 is still very good in its own way but Nioh 2 is just an upgraded and refined version of Nioh 1. Nioh 1 is more "broken" in term of power for both the player and the enemies of you like that kind of thing

It's basically the same structure. Main missions are unique but optional missions are often duels (sometimes rematch or guantlet of enemies ) or reused/reversed map with different spawns.

What anon said, main missions are unique but side missions are often smaller parts of main mission areas or often other areas you haven't been to before or just boss fights. Imo they're all fun but they rely on you enjoying the gameplay

I've enjoyed every game since nioh 2 so it was interesting to see that DNA make it into 3, like sop's job system as the ninja/samurai styles. There's a ton of potential if they just lean into both styles and expand on what they can do while also leaving more into what we already saw in the alpha. Shit like expanded yokai move sets that we see from new yokai. Generally increased yokai variety. Hopefully they up the density of enemies in open world. There's a lot they can work with imo

It's kinda crazy to me that they didn't nerf Bloody Phantom Blade Dance and Gale: Doom when they did that big balance patch. It was way stronger and more brain-dead than old Trance was IMO

Probably because unlike trance it doesn’t actually get broken until you beat the game, meanwhile trance did good damage and made you invincible.
