Upon replaying Yakuza 0, I was reminded why I loved it so much, and the realization that both Kiryu’s and Majima’s parts are equal narrative genius.
It invokes this very specific emotion of feeling that the entire world is against you, and enables the power fantasy of (literally) fighting back against it, whilst also reminding you of the reality that there will always be someone in your corner whom you can count on in your time of need.
