The story is one of the best and most unique in rpg history , insanely ambitious on a scale that hasn't been done before or after this game
But...
Gameplay is too barebones for an RPG that's nearly 70 hours long , it misses the mark hard , the method of unlocking new abilities are counter intuitive and the random encounters are unbelievably obnoxious. Don't get me started on the load times , you have to play this with 3x disc read speed enabled on emulator or you're gonna have to wait 7 seconds to even enter and exit your fuckin menu
I want this game to be remade and allow the devs to actually have time to finish the bloody thing but considering Square's track record with """remaking""" games don't trust them at all to fulfill the ambition of this game
I really wish that there was a mod that just spruced up the gameplay and fix the horrendous load times man

OP is not a faggot, for once. It's one of the most overrated games I've ever played. Awful gameplay, and while I can't speak for the Japanese script, the English dialogue flows really badly. I heard there were some translation shenanigans, so that might be the issue here. Either way, I hated it and dropped it roughly 15 hours in.
