Yes it was. You only liked it because it was the only new game you got to play for the next few months after your parents bought it for you. After all, you only got two, MAYBE three games a year. Christmas, birthday, and maybe one for getting straight A's. And you had to make sure every hour you spent with that game counted. So you forced yourself to find the best qualities of every game you played, while drowning out the bad qualities as much as you could to maximize the amount of enjoyment you could gain from playing it.

Eh, I only buy that many (if even) a year myself, and I'm pretty fuckin' cynical. I think Sonic is the only series I actively try to find the positives in.

Eh... I cant say it was bad on the perfect sense of the word, in fact it was a solid sonic game, if you forget about guns being there and shadow using vehicles.
The strange thing shadow the hedgehog was how dark the game had in tone.
It was really strange at the time specially because this game got released after the friendly, cheesy and colorful sonic heroes.
Even the game had really dark color compared to normal sonic games.
I still don't know how to describe it, i remember feel kinda scared of the tone of the game when I was still a child, but I cant really explain why, but certainly you had to be there to experience it.
