Do you think Monolith's Switch 2 debut will have a different style of battle system?

The whole auto attack select arts thing was cool for a while, but using the same skeleton of a combat system for a 5th game might start to get old. I really would like them to take the next step with some bold creative decisions this time instead of just adding some new bells and whistles on top of the same formula they've stuck close to for 15 years now.

Same, me too. They've done nothing else but Xenoblade since 2010. 15 years of it and it hasn't really changed its formula since. They all follow the same framework, all very anime. All use the same MMO combat just with new gimmick added onto it. Every story is a boy meets girl romance with a "we'll shape our own future!" message.

It's become kind of stale for me. I'd definitely like to see something new. A new feel, a new combat system, a different visual identity.

I'm noticing a pattern of Nintendo's team trying new things and working on new concepts and games instead of what everyone was expecting them to reveal before Switch 2.

Same will apply to Monolith obviously. New IP. Not Xenoblade.

Or if it is Xenoblade, it'll be trying a lot of new things and will break tradition and be different than the Switch 1 trilogy.

I'll say 3 is an improvement, because not only the secondary characters could shine in the heroes quests, they also got their very own sidequests. Having the full party very soon also offered more moments for them to be fleshed out.

They weren't fleshed out. Noah and Mio are the only ones that get fleshed out. Everyone else in the party is shallow and one note. That's why none of them have any fans. You only see people talking about Noah and Mio, posting fanart of Noah and Mio, etc. No one else was liked by the fanbase because they're all irrelevant.

Their next RPG is gonna be better than every single Xenoblade thus far.

Well at least in 1, Shulk actually talks to other characters besides just Fiora. Rex is decent in this area thanks to Zeke and Tora, but Noah barely has a relationship with any character in the party aside from Mio. He barely says a word to Eunie after chapter 1 even though they are supposed to be close friends.
Noah and Rex really needed a bro and a mentor to bounce off of, like Reyn and Dunban. The party in 3 feels like they're traveling together more out of obligation, whereas 1 and 2 feel like genuine friend groups that would hang out together even if they didn't have to save the world.

It doesn't really need a patch imo. I think all the games they made in the past dont need improvements. The new games they make for Switch 2 is what will define them going forward. The old Xenoblade games are done, i have no problems leaving them as they are. The audience they reached with those games has capped, they aren't going to reach any more people with those games. It's their Switch 2 debut and onwards which is important.

Doesnt matter. They need to try something new cause the Xenoblade games in their current state has reached its audience and is now just selling to the same people. Its growth has petered out. It's at the point now where it's not a series where at the start everyone was excited about the heights the series could reach. The discussions around the games were like "you've gotta try them they're amazing RPGs!" and it was about trying to give it exposure and good word of mouth. But now its now more that most people now know they're either into Xenoblade or they arent.

They need to move the series forward in a different way or make a new IP, something that's different and can reach a wider audience.
