Why donโt you play rhythm games, /v/? Whatโs wrong with you?
>>713150816 (OP)>just break your hand to do scratches that don't pick up half the timenah I'll play Sound Voltex or something
Guitar Hero and its clones are the only ones I can enjoy.
>Parappa is dead as fuck
>FNF is consumed with creepypasta trash
>everything else is either anime moeshit or geometry dash
I remember back when I was hoping rhythm games were my secret talent
I went all the way to the round 1 and played, it was quite a far travel
Was fun but it wasn't for me, it's just something I can watch others so. They also didn't have the popn machine they said they had online
>>713150816 (OP)Who is this guy anyway.
I see the images occasionally but know nothing beyond that
>>713150816 (OP)There are no rhythm games anymore. They're all autism simulators based entirely on knowing the charts. Half of them are arcade ports that were designed to steal your money, and the other half aren't worth playing because they suck or they're mobile trash.
>>713150816 (OP)I've played BPM and Metal Hellsnigger, both were good. Any rhytm vydia I should try?
>>713150816 (OP)But I'm a chuuden in IIDX
They haven't made a new one with a peripheral that's caught my eye of late.
HEY ACTIVISION, TAKE DJ HERO OUT OF ITS GRAVE.
>>713150816 (OP)>What's wrong with you?I play the same 4 games I've been playing for the past 10 years.
>>713151320>based entirely on knowing the chartItโs considered mandatory at some point in your IIDX progression to enable Random (randomizes the note lanes) and keep it enabled. These games are about training your reactions, not memorization.
Anyone capable of doing 12s could do well on their first go at a 9 chart, and so on.
I just tried to plug in my DJ DAO for the first time in ages and for some reason instead of the usual buttons 1-6 reading as buttons and 7 reading as a hat switch, it's reading 6 as an increment on the Z-axis and I can't bind it in the config.
>>713151641you can become an honorary asian
>>713151529It happened to me after getting 10th dan so it's never too late to turn on random and leaving it on
Sometimes you get dogshit ones. Just play them instead of hitting restart
>>713151603You have probably read this already but just in case

>>713151523ongeki is pretty fun
>>713151320https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_IsVYaPCatQ
>>713151497You have my condolences.
>>713151529Thats fine for whatever dog shit youre playing but there is no random lanes in 99% of shithym games. Project diva, guitar hero, nothing. Even necrodancer can be boiled down to straight up knowing the generation & then the music doesn't matter at all.
>>713151904The point is that sheer memorization doesnโt help anyone in any rhythm game all that much. Itโs a weak tool.
>>713151453Dead as Disco demo from steam nextfest was pretty fun.
>>713150816 (OP)>drummania wont pick up my floor tom for some reason.it really sucks that there aren't just official kits for gitadora
>>713150816 (OP)I do, just wish rhythm games have more customization like manually place course instead of generating.
>>713151497billions must clear
>>713152008Looks really good, I'll try it today, thanks anon!
>>713152021Their used to be, for Yamaha.
>>713152006In SDVX I had to cope with not playing the same song for a while before coming back. The sheer number of songs in that game helps
Random in that game is for meme plays
Last rhythm game I played was Pistol Whip, which is both unfortunately a VR game, but also mandates a Steam Index at the minimum for enjoyment due to its wider FoV actually letting you fucking see enemies coming out from the sides without constantly turning your head.
>>713151319He should become a Catholic and join the priesthood. Thereโs a lot of gays in it and they like to suck it each otherโs penises.
>>713150816 (OP)Fartnut festival was unironically a real fun mini rockband resurgence when it first came out. Sucks the guitar controllers came out kind of late and with launch issues.
I just installed sanwa buttons + 50g switches / 40g springs for my iidx con over my chinese ones.
Wow does it make a huge difference in feel, yeah the buttons sounds better but I think the big difference is the heavier switches + springs.
>>713150816 (OP)My nigga in Christ, I JUST finished a Fit Box feat Miku and DDRMAX workout session.
>>713150816 (OP)I literally started PATA-PATA-PATA-PON last night
And just found out there is a remaster coming out next month, will it be worthy?
>>713150816 (OP)I have no rhythm, that and since they are fairly repetitive I get bored/annoyed before I ever find my rhythm.
Don't think it counts but I did enjoy Audiosurf. Wish there were more "zen-like" music games like that.
i hope ai can generate charts one day, would be the greatest thing ever
>>713153126>Wish there were more "zen-like" music games like that. You might like Rez and/or Child of Eden.

I do though. Been dabbling in VR rhythm games recently.
Beat Sabers is cool and so is Pistol Whip. But holy shit I've been having so much fun with Synth Riders. It's not as hard as the formers but I feel like it gives you so much more freedom in your movement which allows to pretty much dance as you play the songs and I love it.
Wish the community was bigger so we'd have more charts
Tried out dead as disco. It was ok. It didn't feel as musical as hifi rush
>>713153180What? Algoritmic charts have been a thing since vib ribbon.
>>713153192Might give them a look, but the feature I like most about Audiosurf is that it auto generates levels for any song you throw at it. While you lose out on the hand crafted aspect, it's nice to be able to chill out and play a lot more unusual and varied songs.
DDR is the only one I care about and I never bothered to buy those legally distinct not made by konami dance pads. I am aware of the PC clones, I'm not going to play them with controller.
>>713153575https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m9zq9Td5n0s
I've seen this, but It's limited in some ways. I'm hoping it'll turn into audiosurf but for vsrg, though with the quality of djmax
>>713151453Hi-Fi Rush for rhythm + stylish action and Mad Rat Dead for rhythm + platforming
>>713153490synth riders sucks ass, it's just a cheap copy of beat saber
>>713150816 (OP)But I do! I mostly play DJMAX and I recently got into SDVX. This shit is so addictive...
how I feel when playing Deemo
I'm trying to make the switch from 4B to 6B in DJmax and it is pure pain
I have a taiko drum controller but it makes me feel like a retard when I use it on top of being fuck noisy so I play with a regular controller 90% of the time, I can play up to 7* on expert
I much prefer rhythm games where you have to keep the beat though like idolmaster, rhythm heaven and sekiro
>>713150816 (OP)I'm too retarded for Guitar Hero, what's the technique called where you strum the bar up and down so it counts as two strums per motion? I can't do that, so I have to keep smashing the bar downwards twice as fast with my thumb to keep up with the song.
Rockband Guitars have the squishy strum bar that doesn't click or reset so I can't even play those because it FORCES you to double strum.... For Taiko Tatsujin my brain can't process the moves I have to make when the symbols are incoming last Easy mode. It's over....
>>713150816 (OP)i decided to pick up fiddle instead
>>713150816 (OP)i have no rhythm and my reaction time is terrible
>>713156462How I feel when playing Sound Voltex
>>713151831Nah, that I actually remembered perfectly, it turned out the problem was that years ago I'd installed some Xinput wrapper for my Dualshock and now it was fucking with my IIDX controller so I had to remove it. In the process I ended up figuring out that it's been over 3 years since I last played.
>>713151529even if the lanes are randomized there is still alot of memorization you can do based on the beat of a given chart
>>713156580Refer to this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gaaLPkKiBP0
And switch to a keyboard
>>713150816 (OP)I used to play them then I legit got carpal tunnel from 2dicks and SDVX
Nowadays I just listen to the music
>>713150816 (OP)Beatmania is hard as fuck and it filters the shit out of me. Sound voltex rocks though.
I do. Not shilling this meh controller by the way. The Keychron q6 max is such an upgrade that it's not even funny.
>>713150964>Guitar HeroWhy isn't there something like Guitar Hero but for the piano?
I wanted to play DDR when I went to a con last week but it alwayd had a massive queue.
Also played IIDX for the first time but some fucking asshole butted in, selected music for me and that left a bad taste in my mouth. I wanted to play Mei, goddamnit.
All I need is a IIDX controller to complete my comfy rhythm game battlestation
>>713150816 (OP)Oh but i do, clone hero and midi drums set up
Just wanna take the opportunity to say fuck xRGTMx, he's a faggot-ass fat-fuck stalker of a mod over at Zenius -I- Vanisher.
I play rhythm games and have since the day Parappa the Rapper dropped. I love DDR, ITG, PIU, SMX, IIDX, SDVX, DJMAX, and several others.
I just choose to not associate much with the community as of the past decade because too many rhythm gamers are annoyingly awkward weeaboos who can't just be normal and play/enjoy a fucking game. They have to carry around their anime body pillows, shadow behind me while I play a dance game, sperg the fuck out about timing windows and the most minute details about a rhythm game that I couldn't fucking care less about because I'm not autistic, and i can't stand how 75% of the community seems to be LGBT now. When did that even happen? Not like I dislike them by default, I don't. But...LGBT rhythm gamers are a different kind of annoying. It's so very tiring. I go to the arcade to play my favorite games and chill with people, not to listen to you drone on about the social injustices you face every day as a transgender person who can't find a job...
Also, rhythm gamers have long been elitist fucking pricks from the early days of DDR all the way up to now...and don't get me started on the circle jerk that is StepManiaX. Everybody wants to be on the "inside" and be buddy-buddy with the messiah himself, Kyle Ward. If you don't have insider information on the game or you can't APC Wild charts for breakfast, you ain't shit. Apparently.
Just do it for real you gaypleb. Dj?guitar? Any music? Just do it for real as music is a toy like gaming to play....gaypleb playing fisher price versions of music kek
I really wish we got more DDR or some of the newer bemani, but released for PC and with home sensor options. Not to mention we're way overdue for an
>Ouendan
game or two. The closest thing we have is the admittedly pretty solid Final Fantasy Threatrhythm Final Bar Line, but sadly its Switch only unless you emulate it - its great to play on Steam Deck with the touch screen, but you can also just use it normally with a mouse etc. Likewise, Osu! (especially the new Lazer variant) is pretty awesome and open source. Same with Stepmania; somewhere around here I have a dump with the original DDR1 through MAX2 complete set.
>>713162149next month
it ain't ddr but it's close enough
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2756930/PUMP_IT_UP_RISE/
>>713156601I own three tatacons but I currently live in an apartment so I can't use them out of a desire to not disturb my neighbors and not make them think I'm a spastic retard.
Taiko is still perfectly playable with a normal controller but I'm reaching that 10* skill level where most of the songs I want to master have too high bpm or have note streams that are simply too dense to physically be able to keep up using just thumbs.
>>713156601How noisy could a small plastic drum be?
>>713150816 (OP)As a professional musician, I can't stand listening to music when I'm not paid to. So in general I just avoid rhythm games. But I used to love them when was a kid.
>>713150816 (OP)My DDR mat broke and I can't be arsed to get a new one.
The rythm tengoku style of gameplay got old after the second installment.
Taiko not tatsujin played at home is a much inferior experience to the arcade.
I do still play ultrastar at parties, though, which I guess qualifies as a rythm game.
>>713154604It's vastly different from Beat Saber. The latter is not really a dancing game in the same vein. You can't really dance in the latter.
>>713150816 (OP)I'm not a woman.
Played IIDX in the 2000s. Could be better at it but the music is great. Gotta drop half a band on a DDR mat as my wife had a fun time playing DDR A (Ace?) At an arcade we went to for my birthday.
>>713156462>all the bored people in the audience
>>713151320StepManiaX is pretty great, it's just DDR with an extra center panel. Good song selection, feels like old school DDR. If you stick to Hard it provides a good challenge without killing you, if you wanna go extra tryhard bar holder mode you can play on Wild.
It's replaced DDR entirely for me, I can't go back it feels like a downgrade in comparison
>>713154604It's vastly different from Beat Saber. The latter is not really a dancing game in the same vein. You can't really dance in the BS.
>>713168061>You can't really dance in the BS.You can freestyle to a degree if the bombs/walls are designed right. It's not SynthRiders level, but can be fun.
>>713150816 (OP)Like all white people, I have no rhythm
>>713150816 (OP)I play them. The thing that's wrong with me is that I can't keep a beat to save my fucking life, I cannot be a mighty Patapon if I keep this up
>>713152979Are able to keep up the fever beat cause I keep flubbing it at the 4th beat
>>713163440Around 120dB
You're hitting plastic with plastic, and you need to hit hard and fast for the hit to register. Also walls of your room reflect the sound wave, amplifying the sound, making it uncomfortably loud.
>>713150816 (OP)I literally don't get what the fuck they want from me when they mean "rythm".
It's just fucking music, what the fuck is rythm?
>>713168856>You can freestyle to a degree if the bombs/walls are designed rightTo a VERY limited degree.
It's a better rhythm game for sure, but Beat saber is just simply not a dancing game. The core motions in BS don't allow for nearly the same fluidity and flexibility that Synth Riders does.
>>713150816 (OP)I play an instrument & write music, so rhythm games are incredibly boring.
>>713169838Not every rhythm game is "pretend instruments" bozo
Sometimes it's pretend dancing
I used to play DDR and IIDX, but these days it's just SDVX. I used to chase the grind of higher and higher level stuff but I've been slowly making my way through 13s for a while now and it's not bothering me that it's not going very fast. I only play maybe once or twice a week so it's okay. The only thing giving me a little bit of a problem is the slight discrepancy between playing at home and in the arcade, so I don't want to play too much at either or my scores really get lopsided between the two
Tapping on a table rhythmically is not a video game.
I play an actual instrument :( I'm a classical guitarist and I've been seriously asked before why I don't play stuff like guitar hero. Cause I can actually play the songs?
>>713170674Maybe Rocksmith is more up your alley?
>>713150816 (OP)Because literally everything that comes out are Beatmania clones that suck ass. Give me a fucking Taiko clone for once.
Friendly reminder to buy djmax while it's on sale
>>713172339Isn't Muse Dash basically a Taiko clone?
>>713172659Yeah it's the only one, I've already beaten every single chart on it and the monthly packs are hit or miss
>>713172420I'm buying EZ2ON instead and most of the DJMax DLC I'm missing, anyway. It's funny that they're timing their sales with DJMax's DLC releases.
I really fucking wish these games let you delete BGAs. There's even a Steam Deck version of Respect V that's only 24GBs because it has junk quality BGAs.
>>713173704You can force Steam to download and run the Deck version of a game by adding "SteamDeck=1 %command%" to the launch options
I was thinking about playing djmax for a while but I saw there's been a ton of random cosmetics missed in old battle passes you can't get anymore so my autism won't let me buy it
>>713172659On a surface level but not really, the games play pretty differently. Muse Dash has hold notes and notes that require two simultaneous inputs so you wouldn't be able to play it with a drum. Muse Dash also follows a pretty bog standard rhythm games charting philosophy and doesn't have many jazzy/rhythmically complicated charts in the same way Taiko does.
