TAG1 is a repetitive slog with copy and paste design everywhere to pad out the levels. The dive suit in TAG1 was an especially pointless and retarded addition that added nothing and contradicts other non-contaminated water gameplay but still exists in a half-baked manner. The endless fog in Blood Swamp is also not fun outside of Master Level gimmick bullshit. Meanwhile, the meathook points made platforming way more fun in TAG2 compared to the rest of the game and the sentinel hammer was an excellent addition in how it perfectly synergizes with the existing toolkit and new enemies and TAG2 also perfectly wraps up the betrayer's storyline from the main campaign.
Speaking of which, the sentinel hammer is way, way, way, way more fun than the crucible sword so to answer OP's question
