What lore do I need to know before I play this? I'm completely clueless about Warhammer

Humanity, the Imperium, is at war with the forces of Chaos' corruption, and the Xenos (aliens).
Weak, unfocused minds get corrupted by Chaos, and entire planets (even solar systems) fall to it. This is why the belief in the Emperor is so necessary and so closely watched by the Inquisition since belief is actually manifested as a real thing in this universe. Orcs are especially strong at it. But then there's people like Psykers, space wizards, that can control it somewhat.
No one knows about how ancient machinery works anymore, tech priests can sort of maintain them.
Warp travel is a space jump through Chaos, where many die from insanity even when protected by the ship's psychic shield. A Navigator is a special mutant that uses the Emperor's guiding light from Terra (Earth) to have the ship travel safely through it.
Rogue Trader nobility are individuals that travel past the Imperial parts of the space, and conquer and control planets there for the Empire. They have a special license to do almost whatever they want.

The game teaches you "enough" about the setting via dialogue and tooltips and tooltips in the dialogue, everything beyond that is just for your amusement because the setting of the game is self-contained due to various things going on in the background
Just don't spare the Tyranid women and children

if anything, know that space satan bad, dont stick your finger in that pie and sometimes you have to break trillion eggs to make decillion omelets, as in you should be ruthless sometimes to make sure you dont get fucked, you'll get it
then again you play as a space privateers who has a license to "DO WHATEVER YOU FUCKING WANT" as long as you dont fuck up space rome/space british empire
if you have the dlc, dont be merciful, just dont

gameplay wise? have at least one 'officer' class character because they give big buffs
