This might just be the most focus group tested game ever made but I honestly kinda liked it

All its tediousness makes it much less replayable than the first game. And you can forget 100%-ing it multiple times.
I spent a whole month doing nothing but hunting for Pearson and the trapper. I killed so many <3 star rats at that ruined fort and wandered the whole mountain range multiple times before I found a male moose.

I don't even know what's the correct way to approach it. You need an insane amount of free time. In your first playthrough you're concerned about finishing the story so you'll ignore most side quests and activities. But once you finished the game and want to replay it to see all the cool stuff you missed you're reminded of the dogshit mission design that has you ride for minutes on end while listening to exposition.

No shit, it cost 100s of millions of dollars to make. And became like the 6th highest selling game of all time. It was made for the modern audience

I agree. RDR1 and GTA4 were the last great games rockstar will ever make. gta 5 and rdr 2 fucking sucked and I would trade every single mission, side mission and bonus content in rdr 2 to just have rdr and 4's psychics engine back. GTA 6 is gonna fucking suck too.

Probably china. They love a shitty crafting multiplayer rust style game. The chink mind can't be bargained with or reasoned to, they want to load into a crafting game with 900000 plugins and get 500 kills in 3 seconds from across the map and thru walls, instantly log out and start a 18 hour factory shift.

It appeals to the lowest common denominator, as it should for a vidya of its development cost. It might be a good product, but it's a product first and foremost.

I'll play RDR1 once I'm finished with 2. I'm hoping for a much more condensed experience, much less bloat and more of the spaghetti western feel instead of the cowboy simulator 2 was. 2 just felt too modern.

1 definitely has filler, but overall its way snappier than 2. The plot drags in Mexico, but it has some of the better moments in the game in spite of that imo.

It is a much better game. It doesn't have you doing gay shit like rdr 2 or preach to you about muh indians. It's a simple spaghetti western story, most missions are not fantastic but rockstar has always sucked at those. The map feels big without being a chore and it still looks pretty fucking good for being a 2011 console game(if you play on pc). Also undead nightmare can get a little samey but for me I loved it cause it came out when I was 16, I was really into zombie shit, it was October and the first season of the walking dead came out the same week. So I was just getting drunk and eating shitty frozen pizzas and playing undead nightmare and watching the walking dead.

I know that feel anon. Sucks that gaming will never be this fun ever again. Maybe it's cause we grew up, maybe it's cause vidya sucks balls now, maybe it's both, who knows.

It's mostly the games. I have skipped like 95% of games that have came out since 2016ish and I haven't really missed anything experiences wise. Each game used to feel different and a creation of its own. Now if I haven't played the newer 3rd person action games, fps's, stalker 2, elden ring etc have I really missed anything? Nope cause its all just unreal engine samey shit that I played a decade ago. Hell half the big games now are just remakes in unreal or the RE engine of games that all feel the same now.
