Epic knew this and took TF2's example of custom game modes and letting players make their own maps. Any FPS that relies solely on its shooting gameplay and competitive shit dies within 2 months. Zoomers want the TF2 era of gaming back, custom game modes, custom maps, custom skins, all that shit. This is why the biggest games on the market right now are sandbox games (roblox, minecraft, fortnite).

i used to play comp (which is another story) but the matchmaking was so god-awful now i just play quickplay with my console irl friend every night for 4-5 games and relax. the matches are still uneven EOMM garbage but at least it's something we can joke about together.

The main drop recently is because season 2.5's meta sucks. Fliers and Poke are overpowered and without adequate counters to the point that more than half the roster is suddenly useless.

Everyone is always so doomer pilled or just so vehemently against something that people like. The game is literally doing fine. Games always have a decrease in players sometime after release it's completely on trend for every game ever made. This game also still undoubtedly has more of a player base then overwatch. It's funny but people only like to reference steam charts while the game is huge on console. But... but ....it's only 100k concurrent on Steam yeah? And? It's still one of the top played games on steam because that's a perfectly fine number to be at. That doesn't account for other platforms nor does it actually account for all active players on steam just those on at the same time.

Also since people love steam charts so much go look at Apex Legends and the trends it had. It had 2 seperate occasions where it's been below 100k for 3 months in a row and came back. Marvel will more than likely have the same path with the added bonus of the monthly characters hyping the game, any successful movie or TV show, and any other sister games all reigniting appeal for the game.

If they want longevity, they need to pump out updates FAST. More modes to fuck around, way more costumes/accessories that you can equip (and earn via random drops if you want to resort to lootboxes and gamba) and many more things that can keep players coming back. Killing enemy as a flyer is way easier than killing a flyer.
Killing as a dive is way easier than killing a diver.
Also, no counter dive outside of Namor, which is useless if there are more than one diver.
And I'm not even a good player, yet every time I played as a diver, we won. I had like 80% winrate as bp and spidey. Only lost to premades or extremely aware players. I mean I even dived as a punisher, it works on every hero capable of diving.

This style of game is always doomed to fail. Team is all behind me, I turn and run away from her for about a second and a half, turn around and put my shield up to make sure her ult is blocked in case my team doesn't pepper and kill her in time. They don't, so my plan to protect my entire team is a good one. Except despite me running away, and then putting my shield up and walking backwards, she was somehow able to close the 10ft gap and float PAST MY SHIELD to get a 5 man wipe. Im out of a Psylocke ult by like a country mile, she still hits me with her ult for the last hit kill. How am I in GM1, but I have someone on my team that says he is a spiderman 1 trick who goes 3 and 14 with less dmg than everyone else in the game. Check his match history and he regularly goes negative. How is he in GM1?

Something is fuckey. I started a new rule for myself, two games. If I play two games back to back and they're both losses where my team gets absolutely run over, I quit for the day. If it happens the next day, I quit for two days. I'm not great at the game, GM isn't some insane level of elite gamers. But I expect GM games to at least have a pretty fair spread of players.

I would fix it by nerfing all heals, buffing healers damage, nerfing tank health slightly, rework EVERY support ult except Luna Snow (because her ult makes sense for her) and Loki; make the new healers ults be more offensive and utility based.

These changes would make ANY comp work and that would be fun and you CAN'T argue against this fact, it's just objectively true. Meta slaving 2-2-2 or 1-2-3 would just be another comp you could run, you would face 5 damage 1 healer one game, 4 tanks, 2 healers another etc and they would all work to some extent. It would break the meta opening up a plethora of new innovation AND break up the healer ult buildup fest AND make solo carrying easier but still have the teamplay factor be relevant.
