I still like current /v/. Yeah, it's very different but it still has fun. What I really miss is old /a/. That place has degenerated far from what it used to be. It's silly that anyone on that board disavows /v/ and thinks /a/ is still elitist in any respect.

With fansubbing being dead I imagine most of the culture there has died.

Why? It’s not like /a/ were the people fansubbing it. There were only a couple fansub groups that had any relevance there in the grand scheme and the people in them were only tangentially browsing /a/.

The worst thing that happened to /v/ was the introduction of other video game boards. They split the community, its culture, and the userbase. Sure, you can go to /vg/ for whatever gachashit you're playing and it'll be undoubtedly more useful for discussion and resources than a /v/ thread would have been but muddling through it together is what made old /v/ what it was. It's what led to a lot of quality discussion/arguments, threads lived or died against everything else (rather than just whatever is the latest release), there was OC, but splitting it with a bunch of other boards has just insulated everyone from everything else.

No lol. I've been on this website for like 16+ years at this point and /v/ had always been pure dogshit, even compared to other boards

/vg/ and /vp/ were good because generals and pokemon were genuinely clogging the catalog. all the other /v/ spinoffs were pointless though.

Yes, the quality of all boards has dropped dramatically in the past 10 years and continues to get worse. I'm only here because there's nowhere else to post
